5:30 am to 6:00 am is my dedicated time to God. Some days I do slack but I try my best to keep this dedicated time holy.
I’m still learning but I know it’s doable.
I also have the Bible app on my iPad & iPhone.
I have a streak of 61 days on the Bible app. It encourages me to open my Bible. Even if I can’t get to my physical Bible. I have to have The Lord in my day somehow!!!
I also spend some of my lunch break with God. I sit in silence. I either pray or read a Bible verse or plan.
I’ve began seeing the plans I’m studying show up in my life! That’s God talking to me 🩵 I love Him badly 😩
My journaling Bible is top tier. I got it in large print (it’s a bit heavy lol) but totally worth it. There’s sooooo much to take away from the lessons and stories in the Bible.
... Read moreMy heart truly comes alive when I dive into God's Word, and lately, one passage that has been profoundly speaking to me is 1 Corinthians 13. You know, the 'love chapter'! I love how my journaling Bible with its wide margins allows me to really unpack verses like 'Love is patient, love is kind...' (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). It's not just about reading; it's about reflecting. I often find myself sketching little symbols next to 'love never gives up' or highlighting phrases that challenge me. For me, journaling this chapter means asking myself: How can I embody this kind of love today? How does God's love for me reflect these qualities? It’s a powerful practice that transforms how I see relationships and even my own self-worth.
It's incredible how consistent time with God can reveal so much. When I seek to understand God's intentions, it reminds me that He is always working. Just like the article mentioned, I've started seeing the plans I study show up in my life, and it's truly God talking to me. For instance, I've been exploring devotionals like 'Nothing to Fear' or 'Prepare to Date Well' on my Bible app, and the truths from passages like John 3:16 or even the beautiful imagery in Song of Songs (like 'Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm' from Song of Songs 8:6) start to resonate in my daily decisions. It's not always a grand revelation, but often small nudges, a sense of peace about a choice, or a clear verse that comes to mind when I need guidance. My approach is simple: I dedicate time, pray for clarity, and then I actively look for how God is moving in my life throughout the day. It's like a treasure hunt, and each discovery strengthens my faith.
So, how can you start or deepen your own quiet time? For me, it begins with consistency, even if it's just 15 minutes. Whether it's 5:30 AM or during my lunch break, making that sacred space is key. Don't feel pressured to use a physical journaling Bible if it's not feasible every day; my Bible app on my iPad and iPhone has been a lifesaver, helping me maintain a long streak! I love having access to different Bible translations and devotionals on the go. When I do use my large print journaling Bible, I make sure to have my favorite pens and highlighters ready. Sometimes, I’ll just sit in silence, praying or meditating on a single verse. Other times, I might focus on a specific theme, like 'lessons from Israel's idolatry' from 1 Corinthians 10, and journal my thoughts. The beauty is there's no right or wrong way; it's about connecting with God in a way that feels authentic to you. Remember, even if you can't get to your physical Bible, having the Lord in your day somehow is what truly matters!
When journaling, I often pick a key verse, write it out, and then reflect on what it means for my life right now. Sometimes I draw, sometimes I list prayers, and other times I simply free-write my thoughts and feelings. It's a space for honest conversation with God. And seeing those little connections, like a verse from 1 Corinthians 13 about enduring love, pop up in a challenge I'm facing, truly affirms that He is always present and guiding. Don't underestimate the power of showing up, even imperfectly. Your dedicated time, however short, is precious.
