everyone's spiralling about ai taking their job and i'm sitting here like... it can't take what it can't copy 🤎
here's the thing nobody's saying.
the move in 2026 isn't getting more niche. niching down strips out every weird specific thing that makes you actually you. then you wonder why your content feels like everyone else's.
that's why i don't teach niching. i teach categorisation.
one core thing the algorithm can file you under, yes. but all of you allowed inside it. your humour, your opinions, the random tangents, the stuff that makes someone go "oh she's different."
a niche makes you findable.
being unmistakably you makes you unforgettable.
so the homework is annoyingly simple. work out what makes you more you than anyone else on the internet. then turn it up 10x. that's the whole strategy.
ai can sound smart. it cannot sound like you.
ps i built a little tool that uses ai to help you sound more like you, not less. dm me the word voice and i'll send it over 🤝
follow along if you're done blending in and ready to be the obvious choice in your space 💻

In recent years, many content creators and professionals have been advised to "niche down" to establish a clear identity and attract a target audience. While niching was effective advice around 2020, the landscape in 2026 is shifting. Niching too narrowly can actually erase the quirky, unique characteristics that make you stand out online. From personal experience, I noticed that when I focused solely on a very tight niche, my content started feeling repetitive—not just to me but to my audience as well. It became harder to maintain genuine enthusiasm and the human quirks that create real connections. Instead of narrowing your focus to the point where your content blends into countless others in the same niche, try a broader approach called categorisation. Think of it like placing your content under one recognizable category for algorithms to categorize easily but filling that category with your unique flavor—your humor, your opinions, and those spontaneous thoughts that reflect your personality. This approach aligns well with how platforms now reward authenticity and originality. AI can help content creators tremendously, but it still can’t replicate the authentic voice and unique perspective you bring to the table. In fact, many creators I know struggle with AI-generated content because it sounds generic or lacks soul. An exciting new mindset is to let AI assist you in amplifying your distinct voice rather than replacing it. For example, some tools now offer AI features that refine your tone, help articulate your unique style, and maintain your individuality. My advice? Spend some time reflecting on what truly makes you "you" in your content and brand. It could be your sense of humor, your background stories, your creativity in storytelling, or your distinct viewpoint on a topic. Once you identify that, turn it up tenfold. This exercise not only sets you apart but also builds a memorable brand that audiences and algorithms alike will recognize and reliably return to. Remember, the goal isn't just to be found; it's to be unforgettable. Niching might help findability, but unmistakable authenticity makes you the obvious choice in your space. Embrace your unique voice, and let your personality be the most powerful asset in your content strategy.
