低学年のうちに都道府県を「暗記」じゃなくて「気になる！」に変えるのが、本当にラクでした。我が家で効いたのは、るるぶ系の“ガイドブックみたいな地理本”をリビングの手に取りやすい場所へ置くこと。地図帳だと開かない日もあるのに、写真やイラストが多い本だと、子どもが暇なときに勝手にめくるんですよね。 特に伸びたのが「都道府県の有名なもの」「特産物」への興味。たとえば“この県って何が有名？”と聞かれたら、親が答えるより、いっしょに本を開いて探す方が記憶に残りました。食べ物（明太子、チューリップみたいな農産物など）やお祭り、名所がセットで載っていると、「次のお出かけは何県に行く？」「何食べる？」と会話が旅行モードになって、自然に定着します。 あと、検索でよく見る「県魅力ランキング」「空気が綺麗な都道府県ランキング」みたいな話題も、家庭学習に使えました。ランキングを“当てっこクイズ”にして、なぜそう言われるのか理由を本や地図で確認。山が多い・海が近い・工業が盛ん・森林が多いなど、地形や産業の基礎につながります。 「梅雨がない都道府県？」みたいな気候ネタも、子どもは意外と食いつきます。結論だけ覚えるより、「どうして雨が少ないの？」「風や山の影響は？」と一言添えてあげると、社会の“考える問題”の練習にもなりました。 勉強っぽくしないコツは、①1日1県だけ眺める、②気になった県に付せんを貼る、③特産物・世界遺産・地形（山/川/平野）を1個ずつ見つける、の3つ。マンガやクイズがある本だと、さらに自走しやすいです。 もし「るるぶ 本って学習にどう？」と迷っているなら、旅行気分で地理の入口を作る用途にすごく相性が良かったです。低学年で“都道府県＝楽しい”の土台ができると、高学年の社会が本当にラクになります。
