I Took Myself on a Valentine’s Date in NYC
Let me tell you how I actually spent Valentine's Day. I took myself to the bookstore. I grabbed a couple things I definitely didn't need but absolutely deserved. Then I randomly found this ice cream place that makes their cones look like roses. (they make it by hand not a machine like i thought) And after that | just sat in Washington Square Park and people watched for a while. Couples, friends, tourists, someone playing music in the corner. It was a pretty cool afternoon. Happy Valentine's Day #valetinesday #icecream #books #fyp #adayinmylife Washington Square Park
Spending Valentine's Day alone in New York City can be surprisingly fulfilling and peaceful. I’ve found that taking myself on a solo date not only helped me appreciate the city’s hidden gems but also allowed me to recharge by enjoying my own company. One of the best parts of my day was visiting an indie bookstore filled with charming editions like "Impossible Creatures" by Katherine Rundell and classic children's books by A.A. Milne and Maurice Sendak. Nothing beats the joy of wandering bookshelves and picking up a few treasured titles to curl up with later. For anyone else who shares a love for unique literary finds, NYC’s bookstores never disappoint. Afterwards, I stumbled upon an incredible ice cream shop where the cones are handmade into delicate rose shapes. This artisanal touch added a special sweetness to my day and reinforced how small discoveries can brighten up a solo outing. Watching the skillful craftsmen roll and shape each cone by hand was truly a treat. Finally, sitting in Washington Square Park provided the perfect end to the afternoon. The park buzzes with life—couples strolling, tourists chatting, street musicians performing—yet offers intimate spots to simply watch the world go by. It’s a great reminder that Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about romantic dinners; sometimes it’s about savoring simple pleasures and feeling connected to the vibrant city around you. If you’re looking to spend Valentine’s Day solo, consider exploring local bookstores, seeking out unique treats like rose-shaped ice cream, and spending time in bustling yet calming public spaces like Washington Square Park. It’s a wonderful way to practice self-care and discover your own kind of celebration in NYC.
