Perks of going to college in San Diego

I'm so lucky to have called San Diego home for the past four years!

I may be biased, but I think it's one of the best places you could ever go for college☀️

There is truly something for everyone here, and you'll never be bored! Definitely consider it when applying to schools ;)

... Read moreOkay, so you're thinking about college in San Diego? Let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions I ever made! I've called this city home for the past four years, and I truly believe it's one of the most incredible places to experience student life. If you're wondering where the universities are located and what the San Diego college lifestyle is really like, I've got you covered. First off, San Diego is home to some fantastic institutions, each with its own vibe. You've got the University of San Diego (USD), known for its beautiful Spanish Renaissance architecture and stunning views from Alcala Park, not too far from the coast. Then there's San Diego State University (SDSU), located in the College Area, which is a bustling hub with a super lively campus culture and a strong sense of community. And let's not forget UC San Diego (UCSD), up in La Jolla, offering world-class academics with breathtaking ocean views and a slightly more research-focused atmosphere. Each campus provides a unique experience, but they all share the magic of being in San Diego! Now, for the San Diego college lifestyle – prepare to be amazed! My biggest takeaway is how much there is to do outdoors. You'll quickly fall in love with the vibrant beach scene. Imagine spending your weekends at a sunny beach scene, watching the waves, or even trying to catch some if you're brave enough to get on a surfboard! There are so many gorgeous spots, from the iconic beaches near the pier to hidden coves. It's the perfect way to de-stress after exams or just hang out with friends. But it's not just about the sun and sand. San Diego's food scene is absolutely incredible, and surprisingly student-friendly. From quick bites to amazing sit-down meals, there's always something new to try. I've discovered some of the best restaurants in San Diego that offer everything from fresh seafood to incredible international cuisine. You can easily find places serving mouth-watering sushi rolls, savory fried rice, and perfectly steamed edamame. And if you're looking for something unique and utterly adorable, you have to seek out places with those animal-shaped steamed buns – they're almost too cute to eat, but so delicious! And when the sun goes down, San Diego truly lights up. The super fun nightlife here is something else! There are so many lively bar/club scenes to explore, whether you're into dancing the night away to a DJ setup or finding a cozy spot for a chill evening. Some of my favorite memories are from discovering unique and photogenic spots for a night out, often featuring cool decor, vibrant lights, and sometimes even a swimming pool to lounge by. There's this amazing energy, like a constant reminder to "Don't Quit YOUR Day Dream," which I actually saw on a neon sign in one of my favorite spots! It's a city that truly encourages you to live your best life. Choosing San Diego for college means embracing a lifestyle that combines academic excellence with endless adventure. You'll find a welcoming community, incredible natural beauty, and a social scene that caters to every interest. It truly feels like there's something for everyone here, and I promise you, you'll never be bored. It's more than just a place to get an education; it's a place to grow, explore, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
