My loc journey

The twist are unraveling!! I’ve been loving my journey so far. I’ve been understanding that Everybody’s journey is different. So for me personally, I have washed my hair, and will wash it again before my next retwist😂 I sweat a lot a work, so my scalp gets crazy really fast and I can’t handle scratching and patting the hell out of my head😂 I spray my hair lightly with water every day and every other day I apply a light leave in conditioner, squeezing it into the hair so it fully absorbs. I don’t have a sit under dryer, but I do have a blowup attachment for my regular blow dryer to sit under, usually 10 minutes is good because if my scalp stays damp, it starts to itch. #locroutine #locjourney #3blocs #3bhair

... Read moreMaintaining healthy locs requires a consistent routine tailored to your hair type, especially for those with 3b hair textures. This journey emphasizes the importance of regular washing, scalp care, and moisture balance to ensure locs remain strong and itch-free. Sweating at work can accelerate scalp irritation and buildup, making it essential to cleanse your hair regularly. Many loc wearers recommend washing before each retwist to prevent grime accumulation, which can cause scalp itching. Using a light spray of water daily helps keep locs hydrated without weighing them down, while applying a light leave-in conditioner every other day nourishes the hair and scalp. Proper absorption of conditioner is key; gently squeezing it into the locs ensures deep penetration, enhancing moisture retention and hair strength. Though not everyone has access to a sit-under dryer, alternative solutions like blow-up attachments for regular blow dryers can effectively dry the scalp and hair. A 10-minute session is usually sufficient to prevent dampness, which often leads to itching. Managing the scalp’s moisture levels is crucial in loc upkeep because a persistently damp scalp can cause discomfort and hinder hair health. Understanding that every loc journey is unique helps set realistic expectations. Factors such as hair type, sweat levels, and lifestyle impact how one cares for their locs. Engaging with communities using hashtags like #locroutine and #locjourney can offer support and share personalized strategies. Overall, this approach balances cleansing and hydration while addressing challenges like scalp itchiness, making it a practical guide for anyone navigating their loc journey.
