Book review | lights out 💀 ✨

👻✨ First book on my spooky TBR and it did not hold back—dark, twisted, and absolutely wild!read both the novella Sweet Sin (the prequel) and Promises and Pomegranates. 💀🍎 I actually loved them both, but honestly, I wish the novella had just been part of the main book—it had so many details that would’ve made the story flow better.

I really enjoyed the Hades & Persephone vibes (mythology-inspired romances that is my favorite 🔥), but the ending? Super flat for me. 😬 The FMC running to the MMC felt a little rushed and left me wanting more.

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 3.5 stars overall—it was good, dark, and definitely set the spooky mood.

Anyone else read this one? What did you think? 🤔

... Read moreFor fans of mythology-inspired romances, particularly those intrigued by the Hades and Persephone myth, the combination of 'Sweet Sin' and 'Promises and Pomegranates' offers a captivating reading experience. The novella 'Sweet Sin' serves as a prequel, enriching the main story with detail and atmosphere. Many readers find that reading the novella first enhances the understanding and emotional depth of the novel, as it provides important backstory and character development. The dark and spooky themes in these books tap into the gothic romance niche, appealing to readers who enjoy a blend of supernatural elements with intense romantic tension. This pairing brings a fresh take on the classic myth, blending modern storytelling with ancient motifs. However, as noted in some reviews, the narrative pacing particularly at the climax can feel rushed, especially in the romantic resolution where the female main character’s decisions might seem abrupt. This is a point of debate among readers, with some craving a more gradual build-up to the ending. It's worth noting that the author successfully builds a chilling and immersive spooky setting, making these titles a perfect addition to a Halloween or spooky TBR (To Be Read) list. The dark romance genre thrives on this atmosphere, and these books deliver strong moods and emotional stakes. For those curious about exploring similar themes, looking into other works by authors specializing in dark fantasy or mythology-based romance can be rewarding. Also, engaging with the community through hashtags like #BookReview, #DarkRomance, and #HadesAndPersephone can open up discussions and recommendations that enhance the reading experience.
