... Read moreAs someone who loves exploring the great outdoors, I find the history behind America's national parks truly fascinating. The first national park in the United States—and the world—is Yellowstone National Park, established in 1872. It was created to preserve the stunning geothermal features, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking landscapes unique to the region. This pioneering move set a global precedent for nature conservation and public enjoyment. When I visited Yellowstone, I was amazed by its iconic geysers like Old Faithful, vast forests, and diverse wildlife including bison and elk. Knowing that this park started the national park system makes every visit feel special. It’s not only a place for recreation but also a symbol of environmental foresight and respect for natural heritage. Yellowstone’s establishment encouraged other park creations, such as Yosemite and Glacier National Park, which all aimed to protect natural wonders and provide public access to nature. The concept behind national parks is to safeguard these areas from commercial exploitation and urban development while offering educational and recreational opportunities. If you're intrigued by American history and nature, exploring Yellowstone’s history is a great way to appreciate the efforts made to conserve these landscapes. It reminds us of the importance of protecting green spaces in today’s fast-changing world. Whether through visiting, learning, or sharing your knowledge in quizzes like this one, you can connect with a vital part of America’s environmental legacy.

As we slowly check off our NP checklist, Yosemite has to be one of our favorites so far. The drive was a little scary (I’m terrified of heights) but it was so beautiful at the same time! We plan on visiting again during a different time of the season 🏞️ —— #yosemitenationalpark #nationalpa
