Why are the leaves turning yellow?
Hi everybody, please help me here. I bought this Variegated Monstera Lechleriana from HomeDepot few weeks ago and the leaves turn yellow and die off. What should I do? Any suggestions please? Thank you 😊!
Variegated Monstera Lechleriana is a popular houseplant known for its striking foliage. Yellowing leaves on this plant can be caused by several factors that often relate to care practices. One common cause of yellow leaves is overwatering. These plants prefer well-draining soil, and prolonged soggy conditions can lead to root rot, which manifests as yellowing leaves. Ensure the pot has drainage holes and allow the top inch of soil to dry out between watering. Underwatering can also cause leaf yellowing and drop. If the plant is not watered regularly, it may become stressed and its leaves will lose their vibrant color. Maintaining a consistent watering schedule is key. Insufficient light is another factor; Variegated Monstera Lechleriana thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. Too little light can result in discoloration and slow growth. Place your plant near a north or east-facing window to provide optimal lighting. Nutrient deficiencies, especially a lack of nitrogen, may cause yellow leaves. Feeding the plant monthly during growing seasons with a balanced houseplant fertilizer can help support healthy foliage. Environmental stress such as drafts, sudden temperature changes, or low humidity can also contribute to leaf yellowing. Keep the plant in stable conditions away from vents or cold windows and consider using a humidifier during dry months. Regularly inspect your plant for pests like spider mites or aphids, which can damage leaves and cause discoloration. Treat infestations promptly with appropriate remedies. By addressing these care aspects, you can help restore your Variegated Monstera Lechleriana to vibrant health and maintain its beautiful variegated leaves.
