one thing to commit to this week!

I’ve been slacking on my fresh fruit and veg game a little lately so trust me we are in this together.

✨ but all i’m asking is for a single fruit or veg or both at each meal. 🤝

that could look like:

🍌 a banana at breakfast (not a banana FOR breakfast but WITH breakfast)

🥬greens of some sort in a side salad or sandwich or wrap at lunch, bonus points for a side of sliced carrots 🥕 or 🫑 peppers

🥔🥦a side sweet or reg potato, some sort of cruciferous veg like broccoli or cauliflower at dinner

throwing in 🥑 avocado anywhere gets you a fruit point too 😎

and that’s IT! get your FIBER UP PRETTY LADY! let’s crush this and then get on to next weeks habit 🫡

... Read moreI totally get it – sometimes getting enough fruits and veggies feels like a huge mountain to climb, especially when life gets busy. That's why I've found this 'ONE MINI HABIT' of including just '1 fruit or 1 veggie or both at EACH meal' to be such a game-changer! It sounds so simple, but consistency is key, and this approach makes it genuinely achievable for anyone. Why does this mini habit work so well? First, it's not about perfection; it's about progress. You're not aiming for five servings at once, just one intentional add-in. This reduces the mental load and makes it feel less daunting. Secondly, by spreading your intake throughout the day, you're constantly topping up your fiber and nutrient levels, which helps with sustained energy and keeps those pesky hunger pangs at bay. I've noticed I feel much more satisfied after meals when I make sure to include a colorful component. Let's brainstorm some more ways to seamlessly weave those healthy additions into your day beyond the usual! For breakfast, think beyond just a banana WITH breakfast. How about blending spinach into a smoothie (you won't even taste it!), adding berries to your oatmeal, or topping your toast with sliced avocado? For lunch, if a side salad isn't always an option, try incorporating shredded carrots or bell peppers directly into your sandwich or wrap. Leftover roasted veggies from dinner make an amazing addition to a quick quesadilla, too! And for dinner, while potatoes and broccoli are classics, don't forget about steamed green beans, sautéed mushrooms, or a vibrant corn salsa. Even snacking can be an opportunity – grab some apple slices with peanut butter, a handful of cherry tomatoes, or a crisp cucumber with hummus. Every little bit truly adds up. To make this 'include 1 fruit or 1 veggie or both at EACH meal' habit even easier, a little prep goes a long way. Spend 15 minutes on a Sunday washing and chopping some of your favorite produce. Store sliced bell peppers, carrots, and celery sticks in airtight containers for grab-and-go snacks or easy meal additions. Keep a fruit bowl on your counter as a visual reminder. Frozen fruits and vegetables are also your best friend – they're just as nutritious and perfect for smoothies or quick stir-fries without worrying about spoilage. If you're someone who thinks they 'don't like vegetables,' try experimenting with different cooking methods. Roasting brings out sweetness, while stir-frying keeps them crisp. Don't force yourself to eat something you truly dislike; there are so many options out there! This isn't about restriction; it's about abundance and adding goodness. Remember, this is your mini habit for the week, designed to help you crush your health goals one delicious bite at a time!
