June is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
In the Suikinkutsu in front of the shop, a beautiful sound like a music box sounds when you put your ears on it (it is also included in the video)

明月院の紫陽花は「明月院ブルー」と呼ばれるほど美しく、その開花を心待ちにする多くの訪問者がいます。私自身も何度か明月院を訪れていますが、紫陽花の季節の混雑を避けて、落ち着いた時期に伺うのがおすすめです。 特にお茶屋さん「月笑軒」は、明月院の中にありながらも静寂な空間を楽しめる貴重な場所です。店頭にある水琴窟に耳を近づけると、実際にオルゴールのような澄んだ音色が聞こえ、心が落ち着きます。店内には価値ある調度品が多く飾られており、撮影禁止ですが、その雰囲気は直接訪れて体験する価値があります。 また、明月院には花想い地蔵や、うさぎのオレンジちゃんといったかわいらしい置物が点在しており、散策の楽しみの一つです。私は子どもの頃から動物や自然と触れ合うのが好きでしたので、こうした小道具も意外な発見となりました。 訪れる際は、北鎌倉駅から徒歩10分ほどでアクセスでき、拝観料も500円とリーズナブル。6月の土日はお茶屋さんは休業なので、落ち着いた平日に訪れるのがベターです。現金のみの支払いなど細かい点も事前に把握しておくとスムーズです。 紫陽花の見頃は限られていますが、その前の静かな明月院は、ゆったりと鎌倉の歴史や文化を感じることができる穴場スポットです。私のように落ち着いた時間を求める方には特におすすめで、心ほどける景色とともに日本の美しい四季を感じられます。ぜひ訪れてみてください。
