In my mind, I think of entries (pt. 6) in four components: (1) acceleration to close the distance without deceleration (2) the gather step into a jump (measured by its horizontal distance and height) (3) the strike, which ideally audibly cracks upon impact and (4) the swing, which ideally is 360 d

Aly and can curtains part 2. The first 11 seconds show clarity if you pay attention to her behavior — it’s precisely consistent under civil agitation and with the jacket on. She’s not responding to equipment — she’s responding to the human. Same body language, same curled scorpion tail posit

Progress, not perfection (sends pt. 5). An undervalued trait Aly has is that she improves consistently despite the volume of training. There’s a fine line of appropriate intensity to thread with young competition working dogs — I’m grateful to have world class decoys to safely catch Aly and whom

Big girls can launch (part 4). Every half pound Aly loses her agility improves. We’re in the early chapters of her weight loss journey which is progressing slowly as she has an appetite like a 🐷, will climb counters to steal food and 🍌 hence her nickname of 🐒 🐕: Quest vom Gildaf “Aly” 14mo GS

Dense and long females can jump (part 3) — Aly enjoying making new friends with all the decoys. Greater Chicago has a strong PSA community with many talented decoys and we’re lucky to have them as friends. Thank you to Fabian for working Aly in civilian clothes. 🤺: Fabian Romo dogdaddyfabian

Big girls can jump (part 1). Adding some agility into protection sets and her entries are looking better by her 3rd session focusing on sends. Tall puppy is 25” (63.5cm) at the withers and 71lbs (32.5kg). Can’t wait to see what her entries look like when she’s at a leaner weight coming soon

“A bitch is never late, nor is she early. She arrives on the suit 💪 precisely when she means to” — probably Aly who turned 12mo a week ago Competitive young PSA prospects should be doing sends and putting full pushing grips on their primary suit target around a year old — many sooner. Aly had

Serious working dogs, handlers and decoys shouldn’t let a slightly rainy day get in the way of good training outside. Aly’s second session working on sends, focusing on striking through a fading target. Also, working 20 dogs in the rain while wearing crocs is a huge flex, to the extent multiple

What better way to celebrate Aly’s first birthday than to rip sends, feed her a level 4 sleeve and disrespect some plastic jumps. All reps included from two sets within 2 hours. 🐕: Quest vom Gildaf “Aly” 12mo GSD puppy 🤺: Carlos Urbina curbcarlos19 gohldk9 💪: almk9equipment #germansh

Aly dancing with a new friend using new equipment in a new location working in a tight space. When a young dog encounters a novel situation with a similar picture, they should be indifferent and their actions consistent. 🐕: Quest vom Gildaf “Aly” 11mo GSD puppy 🤺: Carlos Urbina curbcarlos19 g

It’s important sooner rather than later for young protection dogs to build confidence engaging strangers so they don’t get run by an unfamiliar picture when it matters. Aly working with a new to her dance partner in a new environment featuring a leg wrap and hip wrap, as well as throwing her a

A great way to build compression is to lift dogs while on a full grip, forcing them to bear most of, if not all their weight for short durations. A similar exercise called “the wall” magnifies the extent of the weight bearing by creating further vertical distance between the dog and decoy. 🐕:

“Grip could be fuller” moment for Aly. She push bites on full grips and occasionally enjoys thrashing, which at least happens more than she pulls. 🐕: Quest vom Gildaf “Aly” 10mo GSD puppy 🤺: Scott Sharfman akela_k9_services 🎥: thebiteybitches #germanshepherd #reels #explore #dog

Just a fun low intensity 1st flee bite for Aly at the end of a longer set. She’s tired, so utilizing frustration during the chase to bring out one final rep. 🐕: Quest vom Gildaf “Aly” 10mo GSD puppy 🤺: Scott Sharfman akela_k9_services 🎥: thebiteybitches #germanshepherd #explore #

Short drag + 3 foot send focused on commitment to the strike while under novel downward stick pressure, forward gripping through a drive and vocals. Insufficient space for a dramatic strike and swing, just seeking lack of hesitation. 🐕: Quest vom Gildaf “Aly” 10mo GSD puppy 🤺: Scott Sharfma

We had a visitor during our training session so I guess we’re working on IGP bark and holds with Aly. I never intentionally have her prey barking but this was unavoidable. #puppy #gsd #germanshepherd #squirrel #dog

Aly, 5mo socialization with other dogs. The male here is a very patient 5yo 90lb IGP3 male, Baldrik von Dickerson. Back when we were dabbling in IGP, every time they played it would turn into an hour long wrestling session. Aly wrestled and repeatedly try to mount a male 120lb giant Schnauz
