annotating

I'm having so much fun with this!

have you ever tried annotating?

... Read moreAnnotating has truly changed the way I engage with books. Instead of passively reading, I actively interact with the material by highlighting key phrases, jotting down questions, or noting personal reflections in the margins. This practice not only deepens my comprehension but also keeps me fully immersed in the story. For instance, I recently started annotating a fantasy novel filled with vivid imagery and complex emotions. As I annotated, I could track the protagonist's inner turmoil and the intricate plot twists more clearly. One fascinating aspect of annotating is the ability to capture emotions and themes that might otherwise pass unnoticed. When reading scenes depicting intense feelings like anger or sorrow—words like "anger roared to life" or "soul fluttering"—I mark these to revisit and analyze later. This helps me connect the author’s intent with my own reactions, turning reading into a highly personalized experience. Another tip is using different colors or symbols to categorize annotations—red for main themes, green for character development, blue for questions or confusion. This organization makes revisiting important parts easier and supports a richer discussion if you’re sharing the book with others. Ultimately, annotating is about making the text your own and enjoying the journey of discovery. It’s fun, rewarding, and has definitely enhanced my appreciation for books. I encourage you to give it a try—you might find reading a whole new adventure!

Okay maybe BookTok doesn’t care. Really I don’t care either. But annotating is one of my favorite things to do as I read! I don’t like to highlight or mark up my books. I was taught from a young age not to write in books, and it’s stuck with me. Which is why annotating tabs and clear sticky not

Generally it depends on the genre. I tab a lot for romances whenever I do tab. - I base it off of the emotions I tend to feel when reading. 🎧 I don’t bother using a ruler or anything because it helps me to view the book as a work of art, rather than something that has to be super perfect with no
