Schooling PETA 👇
So PETA is at it again. Seemingly, misrepresentating the pictured situation. Insinuating, that this pony is stuck, unable to move it's head, tied up in a concrete room, any time it isn't being paraded around a stadium. I mean... that's a stretch even for PETA.
What's really going on here then?
What's really going on is... the pony, most likely, is temporarily in a grooming, or wash, stall. It could be there for a number if reasons. Such as, veterinary care, Farrier work, show prep, grooming, ect.
The reason cross ties are kept taut, is for safety. The horses head shouldn't be able to move side to side much, nor up and down. Horses could get tangled and injured if the ties are to loose.
Further, the ties are quick release, or panic snaps. You can see those snaps attatched to the halter. Unless they are defective in some way, they will release. Over, near 30 years of experience with cross ties, and I have seen various ones release when the horse applies the right amount of pressure to them. That feature alone, make it impossible to just lock a horse in cross ties. A horse hard tied to a wall, is more locked in than a horse in cross ties.
I'm not going to go into weather live animals should be used as mascots. I'm only commenting on the photo presented and how it misrepresents what seems to be going on here.
Shame on you PETA. There's a lot worse going on in the industry than a horse standing in cross ties, but this is what you chose to report on...
