Paella Mixta 🩷
The full video of the Paella Mixta I made last night! 🩷✨
This dish was absolutely delicious, hearty, and full of flavor. I loved how the seafood infused into the rice…the saffron gave it that beautiful golden color. 💛⭐️ StilI wished I had of let the saffron bloom a little longer, but that's all part of learning. 👌🏾🩷Overall, this meal turned out wonderfully, and best of all, my favorite guy loved it! 🥰😘
I was a little intimidated by this recipe but I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone! 🩷🤟🏾
With practice, I know I’ll continue to perfect it. 🩷
What I love most about cooking is discovering the stories behind different dishes. Paella has Spanish roots and was a poor man’s lunch. It was such a joy to make this dish! 🩷
Remember, it's the small things… the everyday moments, like learning a new recipe that help shape our lives. 🩷

Cooking Paella Mixta at home is a wonderful way to bring a taste of Spanish culture into your kitchen. One of the best parts about making this dish from scratch is watching the saffron unfold its unique aroma and vibrant golden color within the rice. From my experience, letting the saffron bloom properly in warm broth is key to unlocking the fullest flavor and a deeper, richer color—it truly elevates the entire dish. This recipe also offers plenty of room for customization. While the traditional mix includes a variety of seafood like shrimp, mussels, and clams, you can adjust the ingredients based on what you have available or prefer. I once tried adding cuttlefish and chorizo for an earthier twist, which turned out fantastic. One challenge I faced the first time was achieving the perfect socarrat—the slightly crispy rice at the bottom that every paella enthusiast treasures. To get this right, make sure to cook the rice evenly without stirring too much as it simmers, and use a paella pan if possible for even heat distribution. Beyond cooking techniques, embracing the story behind Paella Mixta enhances the experience. Originating as a humble meal for farmers and laborers in Valencia, this dish is a celebration of simple, readily available ingredients, transformed into something special through cooking. Sharing this dish made me appreciate the small victories in cooking. Each attempt teaches you something new—whether it's timing the saffron properly or balancing flavors—and each step brings you closer to mastering a dish that’s both comforting and impressive. If you’re passionate about exploring Spanish cuisine or just looking to try a rewarding recipe, Paella Mixta is a perfect choice. It’s hearty, full of layers of flavor, and a beautiful way to connect with culinary traditions while creating memories at your own dining table.
