Unaesthetic House Things! 🏡
I went down memory lane one day and I drove by the house I grew up in. I was kind of sad, because all I remember was a pretty house with not so found memories...
We had a lot growing up, but there was no love, there was violence, there was sadness... So did the nice. things really matter?
now fast forward 15 years later: I live with my boyfriend and I can say the memories are nice. We eat together, we go on walks, we have four lovely cats...and this is the house we have!
My dad worked in carpentry so I'm aware of the shoddy work done on the house molding, the paint, the stairs...I note it all out of habit. But it never bothered me because we're blessed to have a house that's happy. We organize well and despite growing up with a mom who said it was a women's responsibility to make the house a home...my boyfriend also does a really nice job of doing that, he'll buy things we need and put it up immediately instead of letting it sit for months like my dad would.
It isn't perfect either because I collect so much things and put it up and I didn't show that because I don't consider it unaesthetic...actually none of this is unaesthetic...it's a comfy home where I don't feel like I'll be yelled at for making the smallest of messed. Rather than seeking unattainable perfection, finding joy in our living spaces releases us from inhibition and allows us to design a home where we can feel genuinely ourselves.
