... Read moreWhen I first thought about moving here, 'Is Australia safe?' was a huge question on my mind, beyond just the critters! What I found is that outside of the highly publicized dangerous wildlife (yes, they're there, but you learn to be aware, not afraid!), Australia generally feels incredibly safe. Cities like Sydney and Melbourne, despite their bustling *urban life*, have low crime rates compared to many global cities. I feel comfortable walking around at night, and there's a strong sense of community looking out for each other. It really is a safe and welcoming place for families and individuals alike. People often ask me, 'What is life like in Australia, *really*?' It's truly a blend of incredible outdoor living and a relaxed pace. My typical day often involves a morning walk along a pristine sandy beach or exploring a natural attraction before work. The emphasis on work-life balance is fantastic, allowing for plenty of time to enjoy the *unparalleled outdoor lifestyle*. Weekends are often spent outdoors, whether it's hiking through a national park, enjoying a BBQ with friends, or taking the kids to one of the many family-friendly environments for *outdoor activities for children*. The high quality of life isn't just about the scenery; it's about the feeling of space, fresh air, and access to services. Now, about the varying cost of living – it's a big one! Yes, housing in major cities can be expensive, but I've learned clever ways to manage everyday expenses. Groceries can be pricey, but farmers' markets offer fresh, affordable produce. Public transport, as the article mentioned, isn't always extensive outside major cities, but inside places like Melbourne, the efficient and well-connected public transport system, including those charming trams, makes getting around easy. And healthcare? Having access to a world-class healthcare system has been a huge comfort. It's a significant pro that often gets overlooked when people focus on the cost. While there isn't a single 'stereotypical Australian outfit' you'll see everyone wearing, the vibe is definitely casual and outdoorsy. Think shorts, t-shirts, and thongs (flip-flops!). It reflects the laid-back attitude and the beautiful weather. You'll find a deep appreciation for nature, sport, and a good 'cuppa'. The multicultural aspect means you're always encountering new traditions and experiences, which adds so much richness to daily life. Overall, my experience living here has been overwhelmingly positive. It's a land of stunning seasonal beauty and endless adventure, where challenges exist but are outweighed by the immense opportunities and quality of life. It's a big move, but for me, it’s been worth every moment.

What I packed to move to Australia ⬇️
I’m only taking a carryon roller bag (but has straps to be a backpack if needed), a personal item backpack & a fanny pack. I tried to be as minimal in clothing as possible because I always end up wearing the same things lowkey so we’ll see if I end up actually wearing everything 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣
