Egypt- My first solo travel 🥳

Egypt was my first solo adventure. I remember being so nervous and imagining everything that could go wrong. Instead, one of the best decisions I've ever made. If I could give you any advice for traveling here, here's what I would suggest:

1. Always respect the Egyptian hustle- don't get mad when someone's trying to sell you something. Say no thank you and move on

2. Leave time to relax- I promise you I was nonstop temple running in one day and was completely wiped. Leave yourself a free day

3. Universal charger- bring it.

4. Clear your phone storage before you go- lots of sights to see and pictures to take. You will never be bored

5. The food? Try it all

6. Cash- not all vendors accept cards. Especially useful for tips

7. If you don't feel confident in traveling by yourself, contact a tour group. I would 100% recommend Memphis tours. Felt safe the entire time and they were with me every step of the way.

8. Have fun and meet new people 🥳

... Read moreTraveling solo in Egypt can be an exhilarating journey filled with rich history and vibrant culture. When planning your trip, consider the best times to visit, usually during the cooler months from October to April. This helps avoid the extreme heat of summer, especially if you want to explore outdoor sites like the Pyramids of Giza or the temples in Luxor. Additionally, familiarize yourself with local customs and etiquette. This enhances your experience and helps establish respect between you and the locals. Always greet with a friendly 'hello' in Arabic ('Marhaba') and be mindful of appropriate dress, particularly when visiting religious sites. Public transportation is another critical aspect of your visit. The Cairo Metro is affordable and convenient, although navigating can be a bit challenging initially. Alternatively, consider booking rides through local apps, ensuring a safer and more straightforward journey. Don't forget to indulge in the local food scene! Egyptian cuisine offers a wealth of flavors—be sure to try dishes like Koshari, a hearty lentil dish, and Baklava for dessert. Visiting local markets can also be a fun way to engage with the culture and pick up unique souvenirs. Finally, embrace the spontaneity of solo travel. Consider joining group tours for day trips; they’re a great way to meet fellow travelers while ensuring safety and guidance around historical sites. Whatever your plans, keep an open mind and enjoy every moment of your Egyptian adventure!
