My baby has a boyfriend 😂 Pt 2

So many of you have asked for an update on my daughter in the NICU and her NICU “boyfriend”, so I thought I’d do a new post.

First off, I want to thank each and every one of you for all the love and prayers! It makes such a hard situation so much better!

Although mostly good commented, I did receive some hate on my first post as well. Mostly bc people felt that I was sexualizing and grooming my daughter…..and I even had one say they hoped my daughter would die. I was just a mom telling a story that I felt was precious and cute. It’s innocent to me. I’m not throwing out your opinions, but I’m not one to care for throwing in politics to ruin a sweet story. I will still let the nurses call the neighbor baby her boyfriend. If she prefers different when she gets older….then she does. She has a gay uncle and aunt and I will think nothing less of her. For now, she is just a baby.

Many of you also said that I should get the contact info of the mom, so that we can keep in touch and become friends and our kids as well. We have went to the hospital every single day from morning to night and have never once seen them come to visit their baby. I don’t think that I could be friends with a couple that neglects their baby for their entire stay at the hospital. It’s obvious that they don’t care about him from our point of view, as well as the nurses. That poor boy is just as precious as our daughter and it completely breaks my heart.

Now, on to the update part if you’ve made it this far.

She has had many setbacks since a month ago. She first got an eye infection, then pneumonia, then another eye infection, she had a total of 9 blood transfusions, and now she has fluid around her lungs. She almost passed away from breathing problems with the pneumonia, but she is a huge little fighter and made it through. I have faith that this fluid around the lungs will work itself out also. She did have a couple of ups in between her downs. At one point before her pneumonia, she was doing so good that she was able to get out of the incubator and sleep in a big girl bed. However, I think that’s the reason why she got it. With all the open air. She also hit the 4lb minimum to get to go home, but since she is having other issues she won’t be able to go home for a while still. She is now 4lbs 4oz. I’m so proud of her and her fight to be here in the 2 1/2 months since she was born. Her NICU boyfriend is doing a lot better than she is. He is in a big boy bed and is being bottle fed now and is significantly bigger than my daughter now. I think he might be released soon. Hopefully he gets cared for better at home than what we suspect. Both baby’s still feed off of each other with their alarms and the whole works. My daughter has switched teams and floors in the hospital twice. Every time she switches, they switch his team too and he gets to follow her. Apparently, they have the same issues as each other. When she catches something, he catches something now. So, they’ve still been feisty together and are still keeping the nurses on their toes together. I do wish the best for that baby boy when he leaves and I hope it encourages my girl to get better and be able to leave as well. We will see though. Thank you so much for following my story.
