overall, they taste like regular milanos with a hint of that london fog earl grey flavor, mostly as an aftertaste. they’re still good cookies and there’s definitely a secondary flavor to how they regularly taste, it’s just not super strong, which tbh might be a good thing. if you’re not into tea flavors, i wouldn’t worry too much. they’re still solid cookies though and they’re packaged so cutely which is always a bonus ᯓᡣ𐭩
ps, i didn’t find them in the regular cookie aisle. they were on an endcap of an aisle near the ice cream for some reason so keep your eyes peeled for the sides of shelves!!
... Read moreOkay, so after my initial London Fog Milano Review, I’ve had even more time to really dive into these limited edition cookies, and I wanted to share a few more thoughts, especially for those of you also on the hunt or wondering if they’re worth the effort!
When I first mentioned the 'hint' of Earl Grey, I really meant it’s subtle but perfectly balanced. It’s not an in-your-face, overpowering tea flavor, but rather a delicate, aromatic presence. I found that the Earl Grey isn't just a flat, floral note; it carries that distinct bergamot zest that London Fog lovers cherish, but it’s beautifully softened by the classic Milano chocolate layer and crisp shortbread. It’s almost like a creamy tea latte encapsulated in cookie form – truly a sophisticated twist on a beloved snack. Pepperidge Farm really nailed the balance, making them accessible to pretty much everyone, even those who aren't usually big tea enthusiasts. It’s this gentle infusion that makes them so enjoyable without being overwhelming.
Compared to the original Milano, which is pure, unadulterated chocolate-and-shortbread bliss, these London Fog Milanos offer a more refined experience. It’s like the classic cookie got dressed up for a fancy tea party! I’ve tried other tea-flavored snacks in the past, and sometimes they can lean towards an artificial or overly strong taste. These Milanos, however, maintain an elegant subtlety, reminding me of a perfectly brewed tea biscuit. If you’ve enjoyed other seasonal Milano flavors, like peppermint or pumpkin spice, this London Fog variant fits right in as a uniquely sophisticated addition to their limited-edition lineup.
Now, for serving suggestions! These cookies absolutely shine when paired with an actual cup of London Fog tea, or even a simple, robust black tea. The complementary flavors truly enhance each other, creating a delightful moment. Imagine them alongside a warm cup of coffee for a sophisticated morning treat, or even crumbled over a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream for an effortlessly elevated dessert. They would also be perfect for a chic snack platter, perhaps accompanied by some fresh berries or a light, creamy cheese for a lovely afternoon indulgence.
For those still trying to track them down, my initial tip about checking endcaps near the ice cream aisle at Walmart still holds, but I've since heard from fellow snack detectives that they’ve popped up in other unexpected spots. Some found them near seasonal aisles, others even within the main bakery section of their local Walmarts. It seriously pays to ask a store associate if you can't spot them immediately – they might know exactly where these elusive treats are hiding! Also, don't forget to leverage technology: check your Walmart app or website for local stock availability. Sometimes, limited edition items are listed online, which could save you a fruitless trip. And if you have independent grocery stores or specialty food shops in your area, it might be worth a quick peek there too; occasionally, they receive smaller, unique product shipments.
And what if these London Fog Milanos disappear before you get a chance to try them? Don't despair! You can absolutely create a similar indulgent vibe at home. For a quick fix, try dipping classic Milanos in a strong, cooled Earl Grey tea – it’s a surprisingly effective way to infuse that distinct flavor. For the home bakers out there, consider adding a touch of finely ground Earl Grey tea leaves to your favorite shortbread cookie recipe. Then, sandwich two of these tea-infused shortbreads with a thin layer of chocolate ganache. It's a fun and rewarding project, and you get the added bonus of controlling the intensity of that wonderful tea flavor!
Hope these extra thoughts enhance your London Fog Milano review experience and help you decide if these are your next must-try snack, or at least inspire your next tea-time treat!
