How to Identify the Naysayers and Handle the Noise
When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your entire life shifts. Your mindset, your heart, your conversations, they all start to change. But here’s what most people don’t tell you: not everyone will clap for your transformation. Some folks who once celebrated you will now side-eye you. That’s because the enemy doesn’t like change, especially when it pulls you closer to God.
See, once you say yes to God, the enemy starts whispering, thoughts of doubt, guilt, and unworthiness. “Who do you think you are?” “You’re not really saved.” “You’ll fall back into your old ways.” Lies. All of it. This is why we must stay anchored in the Word, reading it, meditating on it, and hiding it in our hearts. Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” The Word silences the noise and strengthens your faith when doubt tries to creep in.
And about those naysayers… they’ll come too. People will question your growth, your intentions, even your joy. But here’s the truth, you don’t need to cut everyone off, just create distance where peace is disturbed. If someone constantly mocks your faith or tries to box you into who you used to be, it’s okay to love them from a distance. God might still use you to be the example that draws them closer to Him.
So protect your peace, guard your spirit, and remember your relationship with God doesn’t require validation from anyone else. When you walk with Him, you walk in purpose. And when the noise gets loud, remind yourself: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14)
You’re not crazy for changing. You’re called. And every test, every side-eye, and every doubt is just confirmation that you’re walking in the right direction.
