No buy challenge tips 2025

#nobuy2025 #lemon8challenge #savesomemoney #savingthatmoney #Lemon8Diary

I will be the first to admit I need to learn to save money! Here is a layout on how I plan to save my money in 2025!

1st- I WILL NOT be going out to eat everyday for lunch when I work.

I have a bad habit of not taking my lunch to work with me and then just going and grabbing something from a restaurant! This WILL be changing this year because Ive started meal prepping! This is a win, save money and eat healthier! Absolutely!

2nd- shopping is a big down fall for me. I go to the store just to look around and end up buying things like new 👚clothes, 👠shoes,💄makeup. Things I really don’t need! NOT THIS YEAR!

I am making a shopping list and only going to the store for what I need, and that’s it! The only time I will be buying makeup or clothing of any sort is if I am completely out or it’s a very special occasion that I need something specific! Other than that only personal hygiene products will be going in my cart, and that only if I am completely out of that item!

3rd and last one, NO MORE COFFEE stops!

I am a stickler on good ☕️coffee. I tell everyone I run on it lol, but this year instead of stopping and getting it from a coffee shop I’m getting the ingredients to make my own! I will be making coffee every day. Best thing about this is I can make it however I want it!

... Read moreStarting a No Buy Challenge can feel daunting, and many of us immediately think about finding the perfect app to track everything. While those tools can be great, I've personally found that a DIY approach, focusing on creating my own system, can be just as effective – and often more mindful! For those of you searching for a 'no buy challenge app,' let me share how I've built my own 'personal app' system right at home, helping me stay on track without relying on my phone. The core of any successful no-buy challenge is tracking and accountability, and you can achieve that with simple methods. First, let's talk about tracking your spending. Instead of an app, I use a dedicated notebook. On one side, I create a 'No buy list' detailing what I'm committed to not buying (like new clothes, shoes, or makeup, unless absolutely essential for replacement). On the other side, I have my 'Yes list' for truly necessary items like groceries and personal hygiene products. Every time I consider a purchase, I check this list. It acts as my instant decision-maker, just like an app would prompt you. At the end of each week, I review my notebook to see where I stood strong and where I might have slipped. This manual tracking makes me more aware of my habits than just tapping numbers into a screen. Then there's the planning aspect, especially for those lunch and coffee habits. My 'meal prep' strategy is my personal planning app! I dedicate a couple of hours each Sunday to prepping my lunches for the week. This isn't just about cooking; it's about making a list, checking my fridge, and visualizing my week. This way, when lunchtime rolls around at work, there's no decision fatigue or temptation to buy out. Similarly, my 'homemade coffee' routine is meticulously planned. I ensure I always have my favorite beans and ingredients on hand, making my morning brew a delightful ritual rather than an expensive stop. This proactive planning helps me avoid those instant, costly purchases. Finally, for motivation and accountability, which many apps aim to provide, I rely on a visual tracker. It's a simple calendar where I mark off each day I successfully stick to my no-buy rules. Seeing a chain of 'wins' is incredibly motivating. I also share my progress with a trusted friend, turning them into my 'accountability partner' – a human version of an app sending reminders! They help celebrate my small victories and offer encouragement when I face a tough day. So, while a 'no buy challenge app' offers convenience, creating your own personalized system with a notebook, strategic meal prep, and a visual tracker can be incredibly empowering. It fosters a deeper connection to your financial goals and helps you build lasting habits beyond just 2025. Give it a try, you might be surprised how effective your own DIY system can be!
