Here’s some more info on my pumping journey ❤️ My baby is 2 months and 3 weeks💙
-I have a correct flange size❤️
-I am back to my electric pump that my insurance covered, because I heard that on the go pumps can tank your milk. Paruu is what I was using
-Yes I’m keeping up with eating oatmeal and protein meals
-I can’t really have body armor because of how much sugar it contains🥺 I had gestational diabetes and I’m good now but if I don’t take care of myself I can end up with diabetes
-I have contacted a lactation consultant, she just suggested pumping more and hand expression, and we’ve talked about mothers milk tea and supplements
-I haven’t done skin to skin as much so I will try that💙
-I will also try brewers yeast
!Thank you to all the momas who are sharing everything they take💙 or have done to keep up their milk supply❤️!

... Read moreHaving gone through my own pumping journey, I’ve learned that the right flange size really makes a difference in comfort and milk flow. Many moms underestimate how much a poorly fitting flange can reduce output and cause nipple pain. I tried switching back to my insurance-covered electric pump after hearing that some portable pumps might reduce milk supply, which I can confirm from my experience.
Nutrition also plays a crucial role. I keep up with eating oatmeal and protein meals because they support milk production, but I avoid snacks like BodyArmor due to its high sugar content; managing gestational diabetes means prioritizing low-sugar options. I’ve also found that hand expression can complement pumping well, especially when advised by my lactation consultant. She suggested trying mother’s milk tea and certain supplements like brewer’s yeast, which some moms say help increase supply.
Skin-to-skin contact is another aspect I hadn’t prioritized enough. Since starting more skin-to-skin time with my baby, I noticed improvements in both bonding and milk let-down during pumping sessions. I recommend any breastfeeding mom to include this simple practice as part of their routine.
For those using a wearable pump like Paruu, make sure the pump fits well and you prepare a comfortable environment—warm compresses on the breasts can ease milk flow. Also, keeping a drink and healthy snack nearby helps maintain your energy levels during pumping sessions.
Connecting with other nursing moms and sharing what works really helps with motivation and discovering new tips. Everyone’s journey is unique, so trying different techniques and seeing what fits your lifestyle can make this challenging phase a bit easier and more successful.
