Some ratings I didn’t include were food quality and service, as they differ from person to person, and visit to visit. Most of these cafes have WiFi, so I didn’t include that as well.
More information on the cafes:
Caffe Nero: 📚☕️
Caffe Nero is all around Boston. The food is fulfilling for a lunch meal, and the coffee is great in quality. The store in most locations is spacious, and the library-like decor is maintained across all locations. The prices are reasonable, and the student discounts and stamp cards are a nice bonus. They also have an app with many deals. One thing to note is that your experience may differ based on your location, though not by much. My number one recommendation for a study cafe.
Cafe La Paz: 🍨☕️
Newly opened and ready for business. It’s near many universities in the area and right in front a stop for the green line. One thing to note is that the space in the store is small, but there usually aren’t many people around (though that also depends on the time of day). It’s a very quiet space, which is great for productivity. The coffee and food are great in quality, and the service is amazing.
Luxor Cafe: 🥪☕️
Very community based and friendly! Also fairly new, and they continue to add more improvements to the space and items to the menu. It also accommodates many who come to work. They have a newly furnished prayer space for those who might need one in the Harvard area. Staff is friendly, and service is great. I have a feeling they are still perfecting their menu, as recipes and portion sizes have been changing since they have opened. Some items were not as great in quality as others, but I recommend you try them and judge for yourselves. There’s a variety of items and drinks, with specials every season. One thing to note is that the cafe is usually busy and finding seating can be hard, but make sure to check the second area located downstairs for more seating. The upper area can be more noisy at times. Their kitchen closes earlier than their closing time, so make sure to order ahead!
Arwa Yemeni Coffee: 📷☕️
The area the cafe is in is quite busy usually, so the cafe can be busy, too (but again, that depends on the time of day). The coffee and food are amazing, but there isn’t much variety in the menu, as compared to other cafes. The decor is beautiful and serves as a great opportunity for taking pictures. The cafe is family friendly, so noise levels vary.
Daily Provisions: 🐾☕️
Often times when deciding where to study, I consider this cafe, but likely don’t end up choosing it. It’s busy a lot of times since its in the middle of Harvard square, but I think that recently since its been a while since its opened, the traffic has been less. I did hear that they run out of certain items early on, and that the food quality was not the greatest. I like the interior and aesthetic for studying, but another factor for not visiting for me personally is the menu. They also have a water bowl for dogs outside. Check it out and let me know!
