No grout lines, anti mould, easy to clean (we stay near the sea)
Cons of microcement bathroom (so far):
Light coloured microcement, easy to spot hair (so need to pick up after showering) , not 100% smooth (however these imperfections can't be seen from far unless you are cleaning and really do spot check).
Smart toiletbowl no regrets! Buy from JB, less than $600sgd!
Bathtub is made just using "a higher than usual curb", bigger than normal bathtubs, able to fit 3 adults.
... Read moreFrom living with a microcement bathroom, I've learned a few tricks to keep it looking fresh and functional. Because of the lack of grout lines, cleaning is much easier and mold growth is minimal, which is ideal in humid environments like ours near the sea. However, if you opt for a lighter shade of microcement, be prepared for hair and small debris to be more visible, so a quick wipe after showering helps maintain a clean look.
The surface isn’t perfectly smooth up close due to natural imperfections, but they’re hardly noticeable unless you’re inspecting it closely while cleaning. This texture actually adds a subtle character to the space, compared to overly polished finishes.
Our bathtub design is a game-changer—it features a higher than usual curb and is larger than typical bathtubs, comfortably seating three adults. Along with that, we installed a smart toilet bowl purchased locally from JB for under $600 SGD, which has been a no-regret upgrade for both hygiene and convenience.
If you’re considering microcement for your bathroom, think about how you use the space daily and your cleaning routine. Despite some minor downsides, the aesthetic and practical benefits in the long run can be worth it. I’m eager to share more updates after living with it for two years, so stay tuned!
So glad you love the finish 😍 This space turned out really beautiful — thanks for trusting us!
