How To Start Homeschooling
5 steps to begin homeschooling
STEP 1
Find out what the laws in your state/country are. HSLDA has the laws and regulations for every state to make it easier to determine what (if any) legal requirements you will need to fulfill.
STEP 2
Complete and submit any legal paperwork-
If there are any notification and/or registration requirements for your area, complete that first.
STEP 3
Research & Make a Plan-
Decide how you want to homeschool, what your ideal homeschool day looks like, and what methods are best for your child's specific learning style and academic needs. Use that information to create a general plan for how you will homeschool.
STEP 4
Select Resources-
This can be pre made curriculum, textbooks, supplemental items, school supplies, and/or any resources that you need to implement your learning plan.
STEP 5
Begin Homeschooling & enjoy the homeschooling lifestyle-
If your area has any requirements for record keeping and testing make sure you complete those requirements through out the year. Otherwise, enjoy your homeschooling journey with your child. ❤️

Homeschooling is a growing choice for many families seeking customized education for their children. The first crucial step is to familiarize yourself with the legal landscape of homeschooling in your state or country. In the U.S., sites like the Homeschool Defense League Association (HSLDA) offer comprehensive legal information for all states, including registration and notification requirements. Next, crafting an effective homeschooling plan is key. Consider different education methods—whether it's a structured curriculum, online learning, or a child-led approach. Resources vary; some families choose pre-packaged curriculums that simplify the process, while others customize their materials. Using a mix of resources can also cater to your child’s unique learning style. Furthermore, engaging in record-keeping through portfolios and assessments is essential—many states require this to ensure academic standards are met. Lastly, remember that there's no one-size-fits-all path in homeschooling. It's about tailoring the experience to fit your family's needs, adapting as you learn what works best for you and your child. Enjoy the journey of creating impactful learning experiences at home!
