Things you should research before homeschooling

The laws in your area (homeschool laws very state to state in America)

Either look for curriculums or find grade level standards for your state/area and learn to make your own curriculum.

(I personally am buying curriculums and adding my own activities if I want, but I don't care how others do it as long as all the requirements are being taught)

Look for co-ops you can join or things like clubs or sports.

I'd also suggest looking into what your local library has. (Clubs include things like 4-H or boyscouts. I plan on doing 4-H)

Research different teaching methods and learning types. You will probably need to try out multiple to figure out what works best for your family.
