After a day of exploring the park and its stunning beaches, finding a spot on Espadilla Beach (just outside the park) or at one of the cliffside restaurants in Quepos/Manuel Antonio offers unparalleled views. The way the sun dips behind the Pacific, casting a glow over the jungle-backed coastline, is something else. Plus, you might even spot some monkeys or sloths as the light fades! Tamarindo, Guanacaste: If you're into a more lively, surf-town vibe, Tamarindo is your go-to. The wide, sandy beach here is perfect for sunset viewing. Grab a drink from a beachfront bar, watch surfers catch their last waves of the day, and just soak in the incredible colors. The sunsets often feel really expansive here because of the open horizon, and the atmosphere is always buzzing with happy people. Santa Teresa & Mal País, Nicoya Peninsula: For a more bohemian, laid-back experience, this area is fantastic. The beaches are rugged and beautiful, often with dramatic rock formations that make for stunning silhouettes against the setting sun. It feels a bit more off-the-beaten-path, and the quietness just lets you fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the moment. Finding a high point on one of the hills can also give you panoramic views. Tips for Photographing (or just enjoying!) Costa Rican Sunsets: Arrive Early: The magic starts even before the sun hits the horizon. The pre-sunset colors are often just as spectacular, and it gives you time to find a great spot. Look Both Ways: Don't just stare at the sun! Turn around and look at the colors reflecting on the clouds and landscape in the opposite direction. Sometimes, those are even more stunning.
