I Started Writing This at 18

I started writing Tiers when I was 18… maybe 19.

Back when I had big ideas, messy drafts, and zero chill.

Chapters 1–3 are still up on Wattpad & Inkitt (yes, they’re rough… but the gossip? The tension? The DRAMA? It’s there 😭).

If you want to read about how Tiers started, how it evolved, and where it’s going now, I wrote a full introduction over on my Substack.

Honey Pages is basically where my inner child and current writer self sit down and have tea together. ☕✨

Come read with me. #blackgirlauthors #writingcommunity #storyteller #writingyourstory #substackwriter

... Read moreStarting to write a story at a young age can be both exhilarating and daunting. When I first embarked on my writing journey, much like the author of 'Tiers,' I was filled with big ideas and a messy creative process that reflected my youthful enthusiasm. Sharing early drafts on platforms like Wattpad provided me with invaluable feedback and connected me with supportive communities such as #writingcommunity and #storyteller, which helped me grow as a writer. The mention of Honey Pages as a space where the author’s inner child meets their current self resonates deeply. Writing can often be a dialogue between our past and present perspectives, allowing us to revisit our initial inspirations while refining our craft. Engaging with platforms like Substack offers a unique avenue to dive deeper into the backstory and evolution of creative work, offering readers insight into the creative process beyond just the finished product. For anyone starting their own writing journey or struggling with early drafts, embracing the imperfection and drama within those first chapters can be empowering. It’s a reminder that every great story has humble beginnings, and sharing those beginnings invites others to witness growth and change. Encouraging exploration in spaces like #blackgirlauthors and #substackwriter supports diverse voices and fosters a rich storytelling culture where personal experiences and unique narratives thrive.
