Instructions:

1. Activate Yeast:

• In a small bowl, mix warm water, 1 tbsp sugar, and yeast.

• Let sit for 10–15 minutes until foamy.

2. Mix Wet Ingredients:

• In a large bowl, whisk together the warm milk, cream, egg, remaining sugar, salt, cinnamon, vanilla, and melted butter. (Add honey and more sugar for a sweetener bread)

3. Add Yeast and Flour:

• Stir in the activated yeast mixture.

• Slowly add flour 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.

• Knead for 5–8 minutes until smooth and elastic (slightly sticky is okay).

4. First Rise:

• Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1½ to 2 hours or until doubled.

5. Roll and Cut:

• Roll out dough to ½ inch thick (thicker than classic beignets).

• Cut into squares or circles.

6. Fry:

• Heat oil to 350°F.

• Fry in batches, 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown.

• Drain on paper towels.
