Dang I didn’t know I was THAT good! 😩

... Read moreYou know that amazing feeling when you're deeply engrossed in a book, and suddenly you hit a line that truly resonates, so well-crafted it gives you chills? Now imagine that, but then a wave of pure disbelief and pride washes over you because you realize it's your own writing. That's exactly what happened to me the other day, and let me tell you, it's an absolute surreal rush! Completing my first novel has been an incredible journey, especially balancing it with a career as a physiotherapist. People often ask how I manage it, and honestly, some days I wonder too! Juggling patient appointments, documentation, and continuing education with outlining plots, developing characters, and crafting compelling dialogue felt like a constant marathon. The mental switch from analyzing gait patterns and prescribing exercises to immersing myself in a fictional world took practice. There were so many late nights fueled by lukewarm coffee and sheer determination, often after a long day of standing and moving. But every time I felt like giving up, I'd remember the story burning inside me, waiting to be told. My background as a physiotherapist actually offered some unexpected advantages. The intricate understanding of human anatomy, movement, and the resilience of the human spirit often found its way into my descriptions, making characters feel more grounded or action sequences more dynamic. Observing people daily, their struggles, their triumphs, provides a wellspring of inspiration for creating authentic emotional arcs and believable injuries or recoveries within my story. The moment I typed 'The End' was monumental, a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration. But the real magic happened when I revisited the manuscript after a short break, reading it with fresh eyes. Reading a really good line in a book and realizing it's your own felt like discovering a hidden gem in my own backyard. It wasn't just about finishing; it was about truly connecting with the words I had poured my heart into, seeing them from a fresh perspective, and feeling genuinely proud. This whole experience has been a testament to what you can achieve when you commit to your passion, no matter how demanding your day job might be. If you're a fellow professional, whether a physiotherapist or in any other field, harboring a secret dream of writing a novel, I hope my journey encourages you. It's tough, yes, and you'll question your sanity sometimes, but the reward of creating something from nothing, and then truly loving it, is immeasurable. I've been thinking about starting a dedicated 'physiotherapist blog' to share more about this unique balancing act and offer tips for aspiring writers who also have demanding careers. It's a journey that proves you can be both a healer and a storyteller, finding creative expression even amidst the demands of a busy professional life. Don't let your day job overshadow your dreams!
