I fell out of love with writing

I’ve been writing stories since I was 13 but it wasn’t until I began publishing that I fell out of love with writing. After a successful debut novel, I went down a rabbit hole, looking into different tropes that readers enjoyed and started writing books to tailor to their suggestions. I saw many authors writing about the same tropes and the success of them and I desperately wanted to be someone’s favorite author that I stepped out of my comfort zone.

I was just out here doing whatever I could instead of being authentically me. Yes, doing was trendy will cause people to pay attention but it doesn’t not equal longevity. I had to realize that in order for me to truly be happy as an author I had to get back to the essence of me. I had to use my authentic voice and not what was popular at the time.

As I prepare to reenter the world of publishing, I want to let it be known that I am writing for me and then sharing it with the world. Whether you love it or hate it, I know I showed up as my best self and I don’t regret the choices that I have made, because they all brought me to this moment.
