So I’m on episode 5 and these are my predictions so far for the show!! I’m loving this show so much (I know I’m a little late to watching it but I was just finishing Gilmore girls)
Anytime I watch a show or a movie I always love to predict the ending, usually with movies I can tell you the ending within the first couple mins but with shows a bit harder
... Read moreWow, diving deep into Gossip Girl has me so hooked, and my mind is just buzzing with theories even after just episode 5! Seeing all your comments and thoughts has made me want to share even more of my current brain-dump on where I think things are headed.
Let's talk about Dan Humphrey. Seriously, the 'Lonely Boy' narrative often feels like a smokescreen. My boldest prediction, and one I'm really starting to lean into, is that Dan Humphrey IS Gossip Girl. Think about it: he's always on the periphery, observing everyone, and he's a writer. He has access to information, and he’s got that outsider's perspective that allows him to judge, or at least narrate, the Upper East Side drama. It would be an epic reveal, a total mic drop for the series if the person documenting all their secrets was one of them, yet also apart. This theory also makes his relationships, especially with Serena and Blair, incredibly complex and almost manipulative, which adds a fascinating layer to his character.
Speaking of relationships, the Dan and Serena dynamic is just classic. Despite all the ups and downs, the 'will they, won't they' energy is palpable. My gut tells me that Dan and Serena end up together after everything. They have this undeniable connection, a history that runs deep, and a mutual understanding that seems to transcend their social differences. Even when things are rocky, you can sense they're drawn back to each other. I mean, they’ve danced around it enough, haven't they? It feels like their love story is central to the series' heart.
But then there's Blair Waldorf and Dan Humphrey. Oh, the unexpected chemistry! While I'm rooting for Dan and Serena long-term, I absolutely see a strong possibility that Dan and Blair hook up or have a situationship. They have a powerful intellectual connection and a shared love for literature and witty banter. It’s a completely different kind of spark than with Serena, more challenging and intense. The idea of them exploring a romantic connection, even briefly, is incredibly intriguing and would definitely shake things up for their respective relationships with Chuck and Serena. Their dynamic in season 1 already shows glimpses of this intellectual sparring that could easily turn into something more.
And then there's Chuck Bass, the mysterious, brooding bad boy. The idea that Chuck's mom isn't really dead is a huge one for me. It feels like exactly the kind of dramatic twist Gossip Girl would pull. Imagine the impact on Chuck – the man who’s built a persona around his difficult past and absent mother. Finding out she’s alive would unravel so much for him and could lead to a massive character arc. This could even tie into a Chuck surprise ending, where he almost dies, perhaps in a confrontation related to this revelation, forcing him to re-evaluate everything. His "serious look" often hints at deeper emotional turmoil, and this revelation would surely bring it to the surface. His relationship with Blair Waldorf is iconic, and any major personal upheaval for Chuck would undoubtedly affect her too.
Don't even get me started on Jenny Humphrey. From what I've seen of her ambition and talent, especially with fashion, I'm predicting that Jenny takes over a fashion line or starts her own successful one. She has that drive and creative spark that's just begging for a bigger outlet than just being Queen B's minion. She’s too talented to stay in the shadows forever, and I can totally picture her making a name for herself in the design world.
And what about those other characters floating around, like Elizabeth Fisher or Damien Dalgaard? These types of characters often stir the pot, don't they? Elizabeth Fisher, could she be another secret relative, or perhaps someone from a character's past coming back to haunt them? As for Damien Dalgaard, he always seemed like a source of trouble and illicit activities. I wouldn't be surprised if he reappears later to cause more chaos, perhaps involving drug deals or blackmail, pulling one of our main Upper East Siders into a messy situation.
It's so much fun theorizing like this! Each episode just adds more fuel to the fire. I can’t wait to see if any of these wild predictions actually come true. What are your latest thoughts on Dan, Serena, Blair, and Chuck? Let me know!
