The Letter
Set 3 in this series is quite personal. I don’t often reveal what parts of my work reflect my life or my story. So with this set, I’ll do that. I’ll let you in on something that happened a long time ago. Maybe now, it’ll be the closure of that story.
Each completed set will be in my shop by July 1st with limited prints available. These are also the last of my smaller canvases that I have on hand. Which means it’s time to start going bigger!
Creating art based on a personal story can be both healing and challenging. I remember crafting pieces inspired by unsent letters—fragments of thoughts and feelings that were never voiced aloud. The process allowed me to confront emotions like doubt, hesitation, and the pain of keeping secrets. Each brushstroke felt like rereading that letter over and over, wrestling with the decision to reveal or destroy those sentiments. This journey of emotional expression makes the artwork resonate more deeply with viewers who might have experienced similar feelings of unspoken truths. Sharing such intimate narratives through contemporary art not only provides closure for the artist but invites others into a space of empathy and reflection. It’s thrilling to see how limited prints, especially of smaller canvases, can create a personal connection in a home or collection. And moving towards larger canvases symbolizes growth—not only in scale but also in the willingness to embrace and display vulnerability on a grander stage.
