As a kid, I was always put in so many activities to keep my life busy. So, I’ve always thought that dance has always been my passion and it still is in certain levels, but then it took me a long time to discover my other true passion which is beauty. Which I’ve always loved but never thought I would take it seriously until now. I went to college for dance and theatre, when I took costume and makeup class, it taught me so much more about behind the scenes of theatre and makeup was one of them. Over the years ever since I was 14 years old, I use to do makeup every single day in the morning before going to class, it helped me on what I need to perfect on, because back then my lashes were a hot mess at times, but now they look better than ever. Now, as a 28 year old beginner makeup artist born and raised in VA, who is trying to go to cosmetology school to be certified of making women and girls feel and look beautiful, is still practicing and being creative at the same time. I am trying to do content on the side and hopefully gain clientele soon. God always knew what was best for me and this is it. I may not be an entrepreneur now, even though I’m doing makeup and makeup content in my mother’s house in my bedroom, and I’m not that popular, but I know God has a plan for me if I just keep going with what I love and never give up, I’ll get there. 🙏🏽🌹

... Read moreHey everyone! I’m so excited to share more about my journey into the amazing world of makeup artistry. You know, I often think of my face as my own personal 'mini canvas,' a place where I can experiment, learn, and express my creativity. It's truly a transformative process! If you're just starting out or looking to inject more creativity into your makeup routine, here are some thoughts and tips from my own experience.
First off, don't be afraid to treat your face like a blank slate. Just like an artist approaches a canvas, think about what story you want to tell or what feeling you want to evoke. For me, it started with perfecting the basics, like my lashes – trust me, they were once a hot mess! But with daily practice, I learned to make them look better than ever. It's all about patience and repetition.
Once you’re comfortable with the fundamentals, that’s when the real fun begins: exploring creative 'mini canvas' ideas. I've found so much joy in diving into different looks. For instance, winged eyeliner can completely change the shape and intensity of your eyes. It takes practice, but there are so many techniques out there – from subtle flicks to bold, dramatic wings. I love experimenting with different angles and thicknesses to see what works best for my eye shape. And when it comes to dramatic lashes, whether you're using mascara, individual falsies, or strip lashes, they instantly add glamor and depth. Don't be shy about going bold!
Another fantastic way to add an artistic touch is through decorative elements. I’ve personally enjoyed playing with white dots placed strategically, or even creating intricate patterns. This really makes the face feel like a true canvas. And let's not forget the power of color – a bold red lipstick or even a dark lipstick can instantly elevate a look and express confidence. The images from my journey show how I've played with these elements, from subtle early stages to more artistic, detailed applications.
The key to growing in makeup artistry, I've learned, is consistent practice and never being afraid to try new things. Dedicate time each day, even if it's just 15 minutes, to work on a specific technique. Maybe one day it's blending eyeshadow, the next it's perfecting your brows. Don't worry about perfection initially; focus on the process and enjoy the creativity. I often look for inspiration from other artists, fashion, and even nature – then I bring those 'mini canvas ideas' to life on my own face.
It's a continuous journey of learning and evolving. Remember, every makeup artist started somewhere. Embrace your learning curve, celebrate your progress, and most importantly, have fun turning your face into your very own masterpiece. Keep practicing, keep creating, and you'll be amazed at what you can achieve!
