more free things to do in nyc this summer 🗽🫶🏼💸

free things in new york city are all over the place, you just have to know where to look and go!

these are some things that i’ve done around the city that were so much fun and didn’t cost me anything! 💸

- BOWLING GREEN PARK 🌳: visit the place where

american revolutionaries protested against the king of england by sawing off the iron crowns on top of the fence posts! plus, it’s right next to the Wall Street Bull!

- TRINITY CHURCH AND CEMETERY ⛪️: such a beautiful church, but the surrounding cemetery has the graves of Alexander Hamilton, Eliza Schuyler Hamilton, Philip Hamilton, Angelica Schuyler Church, William Bradford, Hercules Mulligan, and so many more historical figures.

- THE FRIENDS APARTMENT 🏡: a really beautiful building corner than was used as the exterior shots of the friends’ apartment in the iconic 90s tv show

- LITTLE ISLAND 🏝️ : man made island in chelsea that has a couple beautiful concert venues and viewpoints of the city, water, and jersey city.

have you been to any of these places?? 🗽🏡🫶🏼

... Read moreNew York City truly has a special magic, and what's even better is that you don't need to break the bank to experience it! As someone who loves to explore, I've discovered that some of the most memorable moments in the Big Apple come completely free. Beyond the well-known spots, there are countless ways to soak up the city's energy, especially during the beautiful summer months. Speaking of iconic locations, you might wonder if there are free things to do right in the heart of the action, like Times Square. Absolutely! While many shops and shows come with a price tag, simply immersing yourself in the vibrant street scene of Times Square is an experience in itself. I love just standing in the middle, gazing up at the towering buildings and the dazzling digital billboards. It's a sensory overload in the best way possible – the sheer energy and spectacle are completely free, and it's a fantastic spot for people-watching. You can spend a good hour just taking it all in, snapping photos, and feeling the pulse of the city. But the free fun doesn't stop there! If you're looking to expand your list of free summer activities in NYC, I have a few more personal favorites to share. First, a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge is a must-do. The views of the Manhattan skyline, the East River, and the Statue of Liberty are breathtaking, and it's a fantastic way to get some exercise while enjoying iconic city vistas. I usually pack a water bottle and wear comfy shoes, making it a perfect morning or late afternoon adventure. Another gem is taking the Staten Island Ferry. It’s completely free and offers incredible, unobstructed views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the lower Manhattan skyline. Forget expensive boat tours – this commuter ferry is your ticket to some of the best photo opportunities. I always recommend going around sunset for truly magical light. Just hop on, enjoy the ride, and then head back for another round of stunning views. And of course, you can't talk about free NYC activities without mentioning Central Park. It's an urban oasis where you can spend an entire day. My favorite activities include strolling through Strawberry Fields, visiting Bethesda Terrace and Fountain, watching street performers, or simply finding a quiet spot to read. In the summer, there are often free concerts and events, so it's always worth checking the park's schedule before you go. It’s a perfect escape from the city hustle without leaving the city itself. To make the most of your free summer adventures, remember to hydrate, wear comfortable walking shoes, and plan your route using public transport. Always check for any temporary closures or special events online before you head out. Enjoy exploring New York City without opening your wallet!
