Fresh open faced burger

This yummy open faced burger. I used a lean spicy burger patty on a

white bottom hamburger bread. With thinly sliced tomato, 1 oz of Tillamook medium cheddar and a large iceberg lettuce leaf and a teaspoon of olive oil mayo. A total of 348-360 calories. And for dessert I ate a kiwi. So filling.

It’s such a smart way to enjoy all the deliciousness of a burger while cutting down on carbs and calories. Instead of a thick top bun, you get to savor every bite of that juicy, lean spicy patty, perfectly complemented by the toppings. One of the best things about making an open-faced burger at home is the endless customization. While I love my combination of a lean spicy patty, melted Tillamook medium cheddar, a large iceberg lettuce leaf, and thinly cut tomato slices, you can totally make it your own! For the patty, consider lean ground turkey or even a black bean burger for a vegetarian twist. If you're not into spice, a simple seasoned ground beef patty works wonderfully too. The key is to get that perfect sear for maximum flavor. Now, let's talk toppings and condiments. Beyond my go-to olive oil mayo, there's a whole world of flavor waiting! Have you ever tried classic yellow mustard on your burger? Its tangy kick is fantastic, especially with a savory patty. Or maybe a dollop of relish for a sweet and sour contrast? I also love adding caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms for an earthy depth. A slice of avocado can add a creamy richness, and don't forget pickles for that satisfying crunch! For cheeses, while Tillamook medium cheddar is my absolute favorite, Swiss or provolone are great alternatives. And if you want to swap out the iceberg lettuce leaf, spinach or arugula can add a peppery note. Making a gourmet burger at home, whether open-faced or traditional, is so much more rewarding than going out. You control the fresh ingredients, from the quality of your lean patty to the ripeness of your thinly cut tomato. It's easy to make it just how you like it, ensuring pure satisfaction. Plus, knowing exactly what goes into your meal helps you stick to your calorie goals, like this one staying comfortably under 360 calories. Give this open-faced burger a try next time you're craving something hearty yet healthy – you won't be disappointed!
