SAY GOOD JOB

... Read moreI recently tried repurposing an old Tiffany lamp holder as a planter, inspired by a video I saw where a woman did the same. It’s a fantastic way to add a vintage touch to your home while giving new life to antique pieces. The lamp holder has a natural drainage hole at the bottom, which is perfect for plants, so you don’t have to worry about waterlogging. I added a cocoa liner inside to create a snug fit and prevent soil leakage, which worked well. For the plant, I chose English thyme because it smells pleasant when you walk by, adding another sensory dimension to the decor. Plus, thyme is relatively low maintenance, making it ideal for indoor planters. When assembling, I made sure to glue parts carefully without obstructing the plant, using small globs of glue so the pieces would hold but still allow easy removal if needed. One tip I learned is to avoid planting edible herbs directly if you plan to use the planter purely for decorative purposes, as old materials sometimes contain residues. Instead, consider decorative plants or herbs grown for aroma. This project was a fun way to blend aesthetics and functionality—turning an old lamp holder into a creative planter. If you find the perfect antique piece, this DIY can add a unique and charming accent to your space.
