I searched like crazy for a good FB deal on this same exact activity center bc they're well over $100 brand new & I refuse to spend that much on something when I can either find it for free or on a damn good deal... Well, a few months later, I found this one beside a dumpster. I was so excited when I seen it bc it was the same one I wanted to get for my son. The high chair was the cherry on top bc it was everything I was looking for in a high chair & was actively searching to buy one. It fits perfectly in my car so I can bring it when I'm working with my dad & super easy to clean.

I also found 2 more high chairs for free on FB shortly after I found these items. One went to baby R & the other one is a smaller, wooden Eddie Bauer 2-n-1 booster seat/high chair combo project my baby's dad is working on rn. It's going to be Star Wars themed & I planned on showing my followers the outcome of that bc so far it looks super cool.

When I found that Chicco activity center next to the dumpster, it was a total win—same one I wanted to buy new but for free! I want to share some tips from my experience that might help other parents looking to save money without sacrificing quality: First, patience is key. I spent a lot of time searching Facebook Marketplace and local groups for good deals or giveaways. Setting alerts for specific items like "high chair" or "activity center" helped me jump on the best offers quickly. Second, inspecting items carefully is essential. Even though dumpster finds might sound risky, many items are perfectly fine—just a little dirty or weathered on the outside. A good cleaning and a little TLC can make things look almost brand new. Always check for safety and sturdiness, especially for baby gear. Third, think creatively. For example, one of the high chairs I got for free was a wooden Eddie Bauer 2-n-1 booster seat/high chair combo. My partner is actually customizing it into a Star Wars themed project, which adds personal value and fun. Upcycling can turn secondhand finds into something unique and special. Lastly, sharing your finds and projects with friends or online communities can inspire others and create connections with like-minded parents. It’s rewarding to know that saving money and reducing waste benefits not just our families but the wider environment too. By combining hunting skills, a little elbow grease, and creativity, I’ve saved a ton on quality baby products. Dumpster diving isn’t just about freebies; it’s about rethinking how we consume and get the best value.
