... Read moreAssuming that others will disapprove of you no matter what can be daunting, but embracing this mindset may actually free you from the fear of seeking external validation. In my personal experience, when I stopped trying to please everyone and accepted that disapproval is inevitable, I noticed a profound shift in my self-confidence and overall happiness. Living with the awareness that “there’s a hole in my love cup” – a metaphor for feeling incomplete or unfulfilled despite seeking validation – taught me that true contentment comes from within rather than from others’ approval. This perspective allows you to pursue your passions and values authentically, without second-guessing every decision based on potential criticism. One practical method I've found helpful is journaling about why certain disapprovals affect me and consciously reframing my perspective. For example, if someone disapproves of a choice I make, I ask myself whether that person's opinion aligns with my core values. If not, I remind myself that their disapproval reflects their own mindset, not my worth. Joining supportive communities, similar to the Badass Community mentioned, can also create a safe space where vulnerability is encouraged, and disapproval is met with empathy rather than judgment. Such groups provide a platform to share struggles, gain advice, and feel less isolated in the journey of self-empowerment. Lastly, engaging with resources like daily meditation and inspirational books can reinforce positive self-talk and resilience. These tools, combined with awareness of inevitable disapproval, foster a mindset that welcomes growth, embraces imperfection, and, most importantly, prioritizes inner peace. Ultimately, living as if disapproval is a given is not about surrender but about redirecting energy towards what truly matters: your authentic self, personal growth, and meaningful connections.

The best days of my life were when each of my children finally made life decisions they'd been holding back from out of fear from opinions! They always thought I was just stubborn with others and overly supportive of them with wrong advice. I'm so happy to see them all thriving and living the lives they've chosen even though my "family's" heads are 🤯 Knowing that my advice (that only THEY have to live inside their own heads and hearts, there's no point in doing what others want to make them happy for them is utterly useless if their not happy themselves) has taken them each where they are and that they're all happy and flourishing in ways I learnt way too late really make me feel like I actually got it right
