Booze? Pot? PIll? Gaming? Busyness? How do you keep running? #fyp
Healing should not take a long time.
People act like healing automatically takes decades. Sometimes it does. But a lot of the time, what actually changes people is not the LENGTH of time… it is the DEPTH they are willing to go.
Most people stay stuck because they stay at the surface. Talking around the pain. Analyzing it. Avoiding it. Intellectualizing it. Or Distracting themselves from it.
Real healing happens when you finally go straight into the core wound, the beliefs underneath it, the fear underneath THAT, and the identity built around all of it.
One deep breakthrough AND the flushing of the feelings and implications of it, using journaling and/or talking it out, can change decades of running from those fears and pain.
Your life can radically change when you stop trying to “manage” your pain… and finally remove the shit that has been running you from underneath the surface the entire time.
That is where freedom starts.

From my own journey, I’ve realized healing only truly happens when you stop skimming the surface and dive into the roots of your pain. It’s so common to distract ourselves with substances like booze, pot, or even behaviors like gaming and busyness to avoid confronting what hurts inside. But these only prolong the struggle. When I finally committed to exploring those core wounds—the beliefs, fears, and identities built around them—I experienced breakthroughs that shifted my entire perspective. Using journaling helped me flush out emotions I had buried for years, and opening up in conversations made the fears less intimidating. This process didn’t take decades; it felt like reclaiming my life in months. What stands out is how we often confuse managing pain with removing it. Managing keeps us stuck in survival mode, always reacting. Removing pain at its source means an internal transformation that frees you to stop repeating harmful patterns, like staying in unhealthy relationships or self-sabotaging. If you recognize yourself in the cycle of emotional running—whether through substances or busyness—consider this: healing depth matters more than time. Facing your core wounds and the stories you tell yourself about them is scary but incredibly powerful. Tools like focused journaling, talk therapy, or even guided self-reflection can facilitate this journey. Real freedom begins when you stop running and start facing what’s beneath. The feeling of relief and empowerment that follows is unlike anything else. It might just be the most radical change you can give yourself.
