Guilt is the mark of good parenting. #foryou #fy

If you do not feel what you’ve done to hurt your adult children, you’re protecting self because of fear — fear of losing identity, fear of what people will think, fear of having no meaning, etc. And the child will have to heal on their own without you. But that also will send the message that you are protecting self at the expense of them.

If you carry too much guilt and have owned your sh*t with your kids, you have to begin forgiving self and letting it go. Because u not only lose out on life but your kids need a model of a happy parent who knows how to finally let go of pain and guilt, and create a new life of peace.

To help you heal, Use the podcast (free), The Badass Counseling Show; and the monthly articles (free) you can sign up for at the website on stuff you maybe wrestling with; and my bestselling book, There’s a hole in my love cup, as reading resources. The book has 70% of my counseling method in it. Title: Theres a hole in my love cup! A lot of ppl find it does more for healing them than the money they’re paying their therapist. A free support group of 48,000 members on Facebook (BadassCounseling Group). Also we have a paid support and growth group that offers access to me multiple times per month and a committed group of great people also healing and growing, called CMTY-PLUS! Lastly, if you’re dealing with cheating in your life, my new book, Cheating Sucks! just came out to help heal from that! Get em all at BadassCounseling, com. #fyp #parents #mom #dad #fyp

... Read moreParental guilt is often misunderstood, but it can be a powerful sign that you care deeply about your children and your relationship with them. From personal experience, acknowledging the mistakes and emotional wounds we may have caused our adult children is a challenging yet essential part of healing. If you feel overwhelmed by guilt, it's crucial to recognize that holding on to this guilt without moving toward self-forgiveness can hinder your growth and the chance for renewed family connections. One thing I’ve learned through my own journey—and from the stories of many others—is that guilt can motivate change but must be balanced with self-compassion. When parents embrace their imperfections and the lessons they’ve learned, they model to their children how to let go of pain and find peace. This dynamic opens doors to authentic healing. Utilizing external support can be incredibly beneficial. Free podcasts like The Badass Counseling Show provide relatable insights that resonate with many parents wrestling with these feelings. Additionally, books such as "There's a Hole in My Love Cup" offer practical methods for self-reflection and healing that go beyond traditional therapy for some. Joining supportive communities, either free groups with tens of thousands of members or paid growth circles like CMTY-PLUS, can provide the encouragement and accountability needed to keep moving forward. Moreover, if issues like infidelity have strained your family relationships, specialized resources like "Cheating Sucks!" can guide you through that specific healing process. Remember, guilt signals your commitment as a parent, but the ultimate goal is to transform that guilt into growth, forgiveness, and peace—for yourself and your children alike. Healing is not linear, but with the right tools and mindset, it’s absolutely possible to create a new chapter filled with understanding and love.

Does this explain why guilt hits you so fast? 💛
That guilt you feel? It’s not proof you’ve done something wrong. It’s proof of how much you’ve been conditioned to carry. You’re not a burden. You’re not “too much.” You’re someone who was never allowed to just be human. Healing starts when you stop apologising for existing. Parenting
