100x better than garlic bread
100x better than garlic bread. Cheesy garlic butter bagels are made in the air fryer and the best pairing for your pasta dinner. Thanks to Matt @ohsofresh91 for sharing this concept with me! It’s genius.
Here’s how to make them:
Grab your favorite bagels (I used onion). I prefer fresh ones from a bagel shop if you have that option. The bagels are usually much softer/fresher than store options.
Mix together:
* 1/2 stick of partially melted butter
* 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
* 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes
* 2 tablespoons parsley, minced
Spread butter over both sides of the bagel (I used onion but use your favorite).
Air fry on the broil setting or at 450 degrees for 3 minutes to toast the bagels. Top each side with a pile of shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Air fry at 350 degrees for 4-5 minutes or until cheese has melted and begins to brown. Top it with more garlic butter and enjoy with your favorite entree like pasta! Or serve this as a game day food, appetizer, or midnight snack.

I used to think traditional garlic bread was the ultimate companion for my pasta nights, but let me tell you, these Air Fryer Cheesy Garlic Butter Bagels have completely stolen my heart! If you’re like me and always looking for ways to elevate your everyday meals (or just find a ridiculously good snack), you absolutely need to try this. The original recipe is fantastic, but I’ve picked up a few extra tips and tricks that make them even more irresistible. First off, let's talk about the bagel choice. While onion bagels are delicious, I’ve found that plain or everything bagels also work wonders, especially if you want the garlic and cheese flavors to truly shine. For an even richer taste, some of my friends swear by using a mix of cheeses – not just mozzarella and Parmesan, but adding a little provolone or even a sharp cheddar can really take these cheesy garlic butter bagels to the next level. Don't be shy about experimenting with your favorite cheese blend! I’ve also tried adding a pinch of dried oregano or Italian seasoning to the butter mix for an extra aromatic kick, which is divine. Now, about the air fryer magic: it’s what makes these so quick and gives them that perfect crispy-chewy texture that’s often hard to achieve with regular garlic bread. If you don't have a broil setting on your air fryer, simply preheat it to 400-450°F and keep a close eye on the bagels during the initial toasting phase – they can brown quickly! For the second air frying step, once the cheese is melted and bubbly, you can even give them another 30 seconds to a minute on a slightly higher temperature (like 375°F) if you like your cheese extra golden and crusty. Just make sure not to burn the garlic! These aren't just for pasta, either. I've served them alongside hearty chili, as an appetizer for game day (they disappear fast!), or even as a surprisingly satisfying midnight snack. They’re also fantastic dipped in marinara sauce or a creamy tomato soup. And if you’re planning a party, you can prep the garlic butter mixture ahead of time and store it in the fridge, then just assemble and air fry when your guests arrive. Trust me, everyone will be asking for the recipe for these incredible garlic butter cheesy bagels!
