First, make sure you are working on soaking wet hair!! TOTAL MUST. Use a continuous spray bottle to help if you need to.
Also, use a leave in conditioner- rake through with a wide tooth comb. Bonus points if it also has a heat protectant 🤘
Now to the good stuff:
1. Optional, use curl cream - rake through- use @BounceCurl brush- then scrunch.
Curl cream can help reduce frizz.
I prefer NYM and Haititage
2. Mousse - prayer hands to get product dispersed, then scrunch. Mousse adds volume.
3. Gel or custard- rake, don’t break up clumps, then scrunch. This helps to define the wave.
4. Scrunch out extra moisture and water with microfiber towel or t shirt.
5. Diffuse or air dry
6. Use oil to break the gel cast and “scrunch out the crunch”
7. 😴 Sleep with a pineapple bun and on a satin pillowcase!
⭐️ I prefer to section my hair, but you don’t have to.
I hope this helps! Drop any questions below!

Having wavy shoulder-length hair is truly a gift! It’s such a versatile length – long enough to style beautifully, but short enough to feel light and manageable. If you're looking for some fresh wavy shoulder-length hairstyles or just want to make the most of your gorgeous waves, I’ve got some extra tips and tricks I've discovered along my own wavy hair journey. First off, let’s talk about simple yet stunning hairstyles perfect for this length. One of my go-to looks is the Half-Up, Half-Down. It's effortless and keeps hair out of my face while still showcasing my waves. I usually gather the top section of my hair, twist it gently, and secure it with a small elastic or a cute claw clip. For an added touch, I sometimes pull out a few face-framing pieces to soften the look. Another favorite is a Low, Messy Bun or Pony. This is my ultimate second-day hair savior. I simply gather my hair loosely at the nape of my neck, twist it into a bun, and secure it with a scrunchie, making sure to pull out some tendrils around my face and ears for that perfectly undone vibe. Sometimes, just a simple Deep Side Part can completely transform the look of my shoulder-length waves, adding instant volume and a touch of glam without any extra effort. Beyond specific styles, maximizing your wavy hair tips for shoulder-length cuts involves smart maintenance. Refreshing on non-wash days is crucial. For my shoulder-length waves, I find that a light mist of water mixed with a tiny bit of leave-in conditioner or a curl refresher spray works wonders. I focus on scrunching the product into any flattened sections, rather than soaking my whole head. This helps reactivate the waves without weighing them down. If my roots are looking a bit flat, a quick spritz of volumizing spray or a little root clipping while air drying can make a huge difference. These are all wavy hair tips that make my daily styling so much easier! Protecting your waves while you sleep is also key, especially for shoulder-length hair which can sometimes get tangled or flattened at the shoulders. While the pineapple method is great, sometimes for my length, a looser, higher bun or even a loose braid can prevent friction and maintain my wave pattern. Sleeping on a satin pillowcase, as mentioned in the routine, is non-negotiable for me – it drastically reduces frizz and preserves my waves. If you find your waves are uneven, try finger coiling a few stubborn sections while they are still damp to encourage a more uniform pattern. Experimenting with these easy wavy shoulder-length hairstyles and maintenance techniques can truly elevate your natural waves. It’s all about finding what works best for your hair type and embracing the beautiful texture you have!
