Since I went on my fitness journey about a year ago I started drinking mostly water, plus iced coffee. Although in the summer months I have been cheating my rule maybe once a week.
Although today I had a true cheat day. I didn’t say no to a fun little drink. I can also admit I didn’t finish the Dragonfruit Refresca. It was very tasty but I didn’t desire to finish it. Normally I would feel a sense of guilt in not finishing something I paid for. Although you could view it as also being wasteful to give my body things it’s not desiring. Not pictured is the Celsius Togo packet I’m currently drinking/trying out.
I enjoyed my beverage cheat day. What does a cheat day look like for you?
... Read moreEmbracing a fitness journey often means making conscious choices about what we consume, and for me, that usually means a lot of water and iced coffee. But let's be real, sometimes you just need a fun, flavorful treat to break the routine and keep motivation high! That’s exactly what my recent ‘drink cheat day’ was all about.
I’ve been on this fitness path for about a year now, and while I’m committed, I’ve learned that sustainability comes from balance, not deprivation. So, once a week or so, I allow myself a little indulgence. Recently, I went all out and truly embraced a cheat drink day, and honestly, it felt amazing! I grabbed a Starbucks Summer Berry Lemonade Refresher and a Taco Bell Dragonfruit Refresca – two vibrant, fun drinks that instantly put a smile on my face. The image, captioned 'DRINK CHEAT DAY,' perfectly captures the vibe.
One thing I realized during this cheat day was the importance of listening to my body. I didn’t finish the Dragonfruit Refresca, not because it wasn’t tasty, but because I simply didn’t desire to. In the past, I might have felt guilty about not finishing something I paid for, but I’m learning to reframe that. Is it truly wasteful to stop consuming something my body doesn’t want or need at that moment? I believe it’s more wasteful to force myself to consume it. This mindset shift has been a game-changer for enjoying treats guilt-free.
For anyone on a similar journey, incorporating a well-chosen cheat drink can be a fantastic mental break. It doesn't have to derail your progress; instead, it can be a delightful pause that re-energizes you. Think about what truly excites your taste buds. Maybe it's a specialty coffee from a local cafe, a unique sparkling beverage, or like me, trying seasonal offerings from places like Starbucks or Taco Bell. The key is mindful enjoyment. Savor every sip, appreciate the flavor, and don't let it turn into a guilt trip.
Exploring new options is also part of the fun. Just like I’m currently trying out a Celsius Togo packet to see if it fits into my routine, there are so many interesting non-alcoholic drinks out there. From craft sodas with unique flavor profiles to fancy mocktails at a nice restaurant, or even homemade infused waters with a touch of fruit juice for extra sweetness – the possibilities are endless. It's about finding what makes you feel good and happy, without overdoing it.
So, what does your ideal cheat drink look like? Do you go for something sweet and fruity, or perhaps a rich, indulgent coffee creation? Sharing these small joys can make the fitness journey feel less restrictive and much more enjoyable. Remember, it's all about balance and finding what works best for YOU to stay consistent and happy.
Love this! And I totally get the summer drink temptation 😅 Just wanted to gently say—calling it a “cheat” day can accidentally make it feel like you’re doing something wrong. I’ve been trying to reframe mine as “flex” days or “fun” choices to stay out of the guilt zone 💛 You’re listening to your body and honoring what feels good—that’s not cheating 🫶
