I miss you so much 💔

Losing someone you love profoundly changes you. For me, that person was my incredible grandma, Brenda Wadene (Reeves) Humphrey. Her passing on June 6, 2025, left a void that no words can truly describe. Every day since has been a part of my ongoing journey of remembrance, a path I walk to keep her spirit alive in my heart. I often find myself reflecting on those precious moments, big and small, we shared. It's a bittersweet process, looking through old photos, watching home videos, and remembering her distinct laugh or the way she always knew how to make everything better. There's a theory that 'after death the brain is active for seven minutes playing all the best memories.' That thought resonates deeply with me. I always wonder, 'I hope I was somewhere in those seven minutes.' Did she recall our summer trips, her secret recipe for cookies, or just a quiet afternoon spent together? The idea that her last moments might have been filled with joy and love is a comfort, yet it also makes me yearn to have been a part of those final mental moments. This journey of remembrance isn't just about sadness; it's about celebrating a life beautifully lived. To honor her, I've started putting together a digital 'ProShow Slideshow' of her life, compiling photos from different eras, from her youth on April 11, 1955, to her final days. It’s a way to visually walk through her story, seeing her impact on so many lives. I make sure to share stories about her with younger family members, so her legacy isn't forgotten. Keeping her traditions alive, like making her favorite dish or visiting places she loved, feels like a warm embrace from her across time. Grief is a deeply personal experience, and there's no right or wrong way to navigate it. For anyone else on their own journey of remembrance, I want you to know it's okay to feel whatever you're feeling. Allow yourself to mourn, but also allow yourself to find joy in the memories. Hold onto the love, for that is what truly lasts. Remembering her isn't just a duty; it's a privilege, a testament to the incredible bond we shared. She may be gone, but the love, lessons, and laughter she brought into my life continue to light my way.
