EP.4 Get to know Vancouver before you go

The content is updated further after returning to Thailand.

After going through the extravaganza, preparing school papers, filing a visa, booking a plane ticket until the headache is over, waiting for four to five months before flying, the best thing to do is to find out exactly what "Vancouver," the city we're going to live in, is really like?

The main thing to know is which neighborhood, who lives in a lot, where is the danger, where to live, where to buy into the house, where to go. Compared to Thailand, which is the successor of what? I summarized it as follows.

🛍️ 1. Shopping compared to Thailand. Whoever is afraid and confused about what to buy, look at this:

Kom / IT Line: If in Thailand is JIB, Advice there must go to Canada Computers or Memory Express.

Supermarket: Fiel Tops or Our Home Gourmet. There it is, Real Canadian Superstore or Walmart.

Of Asia / Thailand: Indispensable is the T & T Supermarket with almost everything (many lives saved)

Bundle / Full Cabinet: Makro Feel Our Home is Costco (Membership Card Required)

Mechanic Accessories / Car Accessories / Home Goods: Canadian Tire has a complete finish. I bought some tools here.

The shops that are exactly like Thailand have IKEA (but don't compare the price. This is much more expensive than Thailand), Daiso, Muji, H & M, Uniqlo and Hai Di Lao (this one has a different point: Thailand uses an electric stove, but here it uses a gas stove).

🏙️ 2. Shine different neighborhoods in Vancouver.

Richmond: Chinese Dong. Delicious food. Easy to eat.

Surrey: This neighborhood, a lot of Indians.

Downtown: The main shopping street is Robson St., but honestly, for me, Downtown doesn't have much to do. It's boring for a while. It's not as fun as the Thai department store. Most of them stop by Daiso, Muji, and end up in a tea shop like Gong Cha or Xing Fu Tang.

⚠️ Danger Zone: E Hastings St. Avoided. It's a lot of homeless. The atmosphere is not very reliable. I've tried to walk around. It's really scary. I took the name of the street on YouTube. There are a lot of people taking it down.

🌳 Rest area: Stanley Park is a very large park, bigger than Central Park in New York, because it eats the island next to Downtown. This is my favorite. Let's go back and go.

✅ 3. What to do? (Checklist new kids) At the first time you get there, don't enjoy it. Hurry up and take care of it:

MSPs (Health Insurance): Submit as soon as you can because you have to wait 3 months for approval (check the current rules again)

Open Bank Account: Hurry to make it fast. The system here is very different to Thailand. They use Email instead of account numbers when transferring money. They will also make transactions that require a long appointment in advance. Walk-in is not easy. And check for good fees. Expensive.

Do SIN Number: Identification Number for Work and Taxes. Very Important

Open Phone Number / Register BC Hydro (In case I rented myself alone, the unit did not share, must do it myself): For those renting a house who have to pay for the light themselves

Find a Family Doctor: (Million asterisms) Very rare. To the most! Don't worry. Some people can't wait for a year. Very difficult times. Many of my friends have decided to fly back to their country to heal because they can't wait for a doctor here. (Waiting for months to years)

I myself also experienced "sick in Canada" before returning to Thailand permanently. I can say that I am definitely shocked. I will tell you another part. Wait to follow up. This can be discussed again.
