This blurring of moral lines often occurs when someone has been 'damaged' spiritually or mentally to a point where errors are no longer clear or seem to be ignored altogether. From personal experience, engaging with individuals who hold firmly to misguided beliefs can be frustrating because they are convinced of their correctness, regardless of evidence or reason. The biblical references highlight that those who trust solely in their own understanding without openness to correction often fall into folly. Proverbs 12:15 and 14:18 show how a fool stubbornly trusts their own insight, leading to unwise decisions. Romans 1:22 further explains that professing wisdom while lacking true understanding results in foolishness. In daily life, understanding that some are given over to a reprobate mind — essentially a hardened or corrupted mindset — can offer compassion and patience. It is important to recognize the limits of reasoning when someone is influenced by worldly views that validate their errors.
