MEDICAID PAID FOR MY MIDWIFE 🍼🤰🏽
When I found out I was pregnant 🤰🏽, I knew I wanted a more personal experience than what a typical OBGYN or doctor could offer, where they'd only check in on me every few minutes. I craved a deeper connection and bond 💕, and that's exactly what I found with my midwife.
Initially, I went to a doctor, but from the first appointment, I knew it wasn’t going to work out. The doctor made a comment suggesting that if I wasn’t planning to be a mother, I shouldn’t have had unprotected sex 😳. This completely threw me off because it was our first appointment, and she knew nothing about me.
I started looking into other OBGYNs in my area and discovered a birthing hospital 🏥 nearby. Interestingly, I did my research backward, starting with the hospital, then checking out the doctors available there. During this process, I noticed that the hospital also had midwives 👶.
At first, I never considered having a midwife. I mistakenly thought it would be expensive 💸 or something only older women or those into natural remedies 🌿 would choose, and I was none of those things. I was in my early 20s, not into natural practices at the time, and didn’t have a lot of money.
To my surprise 😲, when I did more research, I found that midwives were covered by my insurance. When I met my midwife for the first time, I felt safe, welcomed, and loved 🥰. At that time, I was on Medicaid, and I’m so thankful and grateful for it. Yes, Medicaid paid for my midwife and my delivery at the best birthing hospital in my state, and one of the best in the country 🌟. I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
