📚 The Devil and Her Details by Mina Myles

📖 Plot

Zahra and Declan were force into an uneasy partnership to uncover the truth of their fathers’ murder. As secrets surface, so does the undeniable tension between them. They turned a reluctant alliance into something far more dangerous.

💭 Thoughts

This is my first mafia romance that I actually finished and loved! I went into this ARC feeling skeptical because mafia books can sometimes feel cringey (I’ve DNF’d quite a few), but this one truly hit differently.

Zahra is such a strong, girlboss FMC, and I loved how capable and confident she was throughout the story. Declan falling completely head over heels for her? Chef’s kiss. Their dynamic felt balanced, intense, and emotionally satisfying.

The story flows really well, especially the mystery surrounding who murdered their fathers. While the plot twist wasn’t shocking, it was still enjoyable and kept me invested till the end.

✨ Overall Thoughts

A well-written mafia romance with a powerful FMC, a devoted MMC, and a plot that actually delivers. This book definitely changed how I feel about the mafia genre and I’m so glad I gave it a chance.

If you enjoy mafia romance, would this be your next read?

... Read moreIf you're curious about Mina Myles' writing style and what sets The Devil and Her Details apart, here's my take. The forced proximity trope is handled really well, making Zahra and Declan's partnership feel both intense and believable. Zahra shines as a confident 'girlboss' character, breaking typical mafia romance stereotypes, which made the story refreshing and engaging. The plot revolves around uncovering their fathers' mysterious murders, adding a thrilling layer of suspense. While the twists aren’t earth-shattering, they contribute to the story's addictive flow. What’s more, the spice level is balanced, appealing to readers who enjoy romantic tension without overwhelming explicit scenes. From my experience, the ARC review images highlighted the unique cultural blend in the book—Irish and Persian mafia elements—which enrich the atmosphere and add depth. For fans of mafia romance looking for a strong female lead and a devoted male counterpart, this book is definitely worth a read.
